Perfect for picnic or party. Fix it and forget it. Keep the oven off and the day relaxed.

Difficulty: Easy

Servings: 12-15

1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bacon, chopped
1 cup chopped onion
2 cans (15oz each) pork and beans, undrained
1 can (16oz) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15-1/4oz) lima beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15oz) butter beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. molasses
1 tsp. mustard
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tsp. garlic powder

In a large skillet, cook ground beef, bacon and onion on medium heat, and then drain. In a 4-qt. slow cooker, combine the remaining ingredients; stir in meat and onion mixture. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until heated through.

    Great recipe!

I love Calico Beans – I often add kielbasa or sausage to mine. I have never tried them in a slow cooker.

I always make huge batches and freeze in Ball plastic freezer jars for lunches or sides for supper.
