This recipe was served one year at a mother/daughter banquet at church (for Mother’s Day) and was such a hit that people wanted the recipe, so it was put in a church bulletin.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: Serves about 30 people
Ingredients
1 cup softened margarine
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
1 cup chopped walnuts (I substitute graham cracker crumbs)
2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cans apple pie filling
2 cans cherry pie filling
Directions
Mix first seven ingredients to make crumbs. Press half of this mixture in the bottom of two large baking pans.
Note: I halve the ingredient and use a 13″ X 9″ pan.
Mix the pie fillings and put on top of crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1/2 hour.
Serves about 30 people. Good served with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. (It’s also scrumptious without whipped cream or ice cream.)
