Anyone know how to make cinnamon syrup like the Savannah Cinnamon Mix? I am looking to make this for my Dad for Father’s Day. He loves to add it to his coffee and I cannot find anywhere to buy it locally.

    I have not done this, but I do know the syrup you are talking about and so this in ONLY a suggestion. Or 2. Try making a simple syrup from equal parts water and sugar, but adding cinnamon sticks to flavor it. OR try melting down red hots (candy) into a simple syrup mixture. I have some cinnamon bark on hand so if I give this a try, I’ll report back.

    Holy cow! in just boiled 1/4 cup each sugar and water with about 6 pcs. Cinnamon bark. It is delicious! I was going to also suggest you could make a simple syrup and add cinnamon oil to flavor it. We usednto buy cinnamon oil at the pharmacy when in was a kid. But this stuff I just made is yummy. You would need to strain it and color it, if you want, but definitely try it. Very tasty and I will likely be doing this for Christmas gifts this year. Thanks for the idea.

      Hi Kenya Cook,

      I used your suggestion with the Red Hot Cinnammon Candy. I used one cup sugar and one cup water with about 3 ounces of the candy. Boiled it just until the candy melted. Small problem with the wax in the candy, but it seemed to stick together and it was no problem getting it out. Let it cool and had just enough to fill a pint mason jar. Gave it to my father today and he loved it!Thought I would try it again using 6 ounces of the candy next time.

      Thank you sooo much for your help! I have never ever done anything like that before and was a little worried it would not turn out well, but it turned out great.
