Dutch Baby

Dutch Baby is a mystical melding of simple ingredients to make a delicious treat good enough for any meal. It also has taught life lessons.

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 10 mins   Cook Time: 20 mins  


1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
2 Tbsp powdered sugar


1) Preheat oven to 425¬įF.

2) Place butter in skillet.

3) Heat in oven until it melts.

4) Blend other ingredients and pour into hot skillet.

5) Bake 15 minutes.

6) Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

7) Bake 5 more minutes

8) Serve at once with pancake syrup.

    I wasn’t sure if I was to put powdered sugar in the mix or just on top. So I only put it on top. I halved the recipe as I only had one egg, and used a lodge 8-inch skillet. I sprinkled it with the powdered sugar and drizzled warm honey on it. Currently out of maple. Yummy!

    I made this again to go with lunch. Again, only 1 egg. My changes are:
    Only used 2 TBS butter
    Didn’t have enough milk, so added the watery part on top of the sour cream and yogurt, then finished with a little water. My pan was screaming hot, added butter to this pan after heating, then added batter.
    Did not add powdered sugar.
    Cooked in lodge 8-inch skillet.

    When it came out, I removed from pan and put on dinner plate. I drizzled it with raw honey, then added carmelized apples. Only carmelized 2 TBS small cubes of apples in 1 tsp butter, no sugar added.
    Yummy! Didn’t miss all the butter that was left in the pan yesterday.
