
This recipe is from the Better Homes and Gardens Junior Cookbook (1966).

1 pound ground beef
1 t salt
1 egg
12 saltines, crushed into crumbs
6 wooden skewers
3 slices of bacon
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and egg.
Crush the saltines and place them in a bag or bowl.
Divide the ground beef mixture into six equal portions. Shape the meat mixture around the skewers. (Think corndog.)
Roll the meat on a stick in the saltine crumbs. Place on a baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, and add half a slice of bacon to the top of each drumstick. Return to the oven and bake another 15 minutes.
