Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

A change from the typical can of mushroom sauce. Green beans & onions stirred into a homemade sour cream sauce, then topped with cheese, crackers and fried onions…Yum! A perfect side for Thanksgiving dinner.

Difficulty: Easy

Servings: 8

Prep Time: 15   Cook Time: 30

2 Tbsp Butter
1 1/2 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
pinch of pepper
1 tsp sugar
1 small onion, diced
1 cup sour cream
3 cans green beans
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup crumbled buttery crackers
1 Tbsp butter, melted
1 can French’s fried onions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Sauté onions in butter. Add flour, stir until smooth and cook for 1 minute. Stir in salt, pepper, sugar and sour cream. Add green beans & 1 cup of cheese until green beans are evenly coated.

3. Transfer green bean mixture to a casserole dish. Spread remaining cup of cheese over green beans. In a small bowl, toss together crumbs and butter and sprinkle over the cheese. Sprinkle 1 can of French’s fried onions over top of crumbs.

4. Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven, or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly. ENJOY!!!!
