This is a recipe handed down to me by my Texas grandmother. My kids LOVE these little home made corny dogs. The frying is fairly labor intensive, so when I make them I make a lot at one time.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Servings: 6-10
Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 20-30Ingredients
Batter:
1 cup flour
3/4 cup corn meal
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup and 2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon sugar
One package of hot dogs cut in halves, 1/4s or left whole.
Directions
Mix all ingredients well and drop whole or halved hot dogs into batter one at a time. Then drop the battered dogs into a pot of hot oil or fat. (Be careful. Try not to splash.) Fry until the batter becomes golden brown. Remove to a plate with paper towels to catch the oil drippings.
