I Cheat a Little at Christmastime

Posted By Astrid On December 22, 2011 @ 1:03 am In Blog | 4 Comments

We love eggnog. Traditional eggnog typically consists of milk, sugar, raw eggs, and spices–usually nutmeg and/or cinnamon.

I’ve never made it myself, it seemed so hard to make. Then I found a recipe in our local fundraiser cookbook and it was called Effortless Eggnog.

Well that sure drew my attention! I had to try!

How to make Effortless Eggnog: Printable

eggnog

1/2 gallon of cold milk
1 (3.4 oz) package instant French vanilla pudding mix
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Yes indeed! Not a single egg! 😉 I told you I cheat a little.

Mix pudding mix in large bowl with milk until smooth.

Whisk in the other ingredients. That’s it!

Keep in refrigerator and stir well before serving.

It is so easy to make and the taste is surprisingly good. It tastes good right away, of course, but the taste improves as the nutmeg and cinnamon have a few hours (like overnight) to give off their flavour.

We all should cheat a little at Christmastime.
