This is my favorite recipe for Irish Soda Bread. I also like to sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar for a great sweet touch.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 8
Ingredients
2 1/2 c. flour
pinch salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1-1 1/4 c. buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine all dry ingredients and stir together. Add buttermilk and mix with a large spoon until the dough comes together. You might need a little more or less buttermilk, depending on the weather. The dough should be moist but not so sticky that it is hard to handle.
Shape into a round and place on baking sheet. Cut an “X” into the top with a sharp knife, dust with flour, and bake 45 min., until bread sounds hollow when rapped.
