This is an easy and refreshing salad that can be made ahead of time; in fact, the longer is sits, the better it is!

1 large head shredded cabbage
1 cup white sugar
1 cup white vinegar
1 Tablespoon (or to taste) celery seed
Bowl with tight-fitting lid
Place shredded cabbage in a bowl with tight-fitting lid. Boil sugar, vinegar, and celery seed together and pour hot mixture over shredded cabbage. Seal tightly and refrigerate overnight. Tip bowl upside down (hence the tight-fitting lid!) and shake whenever you think about it. Keeps several days in the refrigerator.
