    I’m figuring I probably won’t win the Cheese Kit and I couldn’t wait to see, so, I went ahead and ordered some supplies today. Can’t wait to graduate from Ricotta to something like Farmhouse Cheddar…or even Pepper Jack!

    Tell me about it! When I’m at work I go in and check it every couple of hours to see if Suzanne has posted anything new. It’s the next best thing to be around people that enjoy creating and doing so many of the things I like to do. It’s so MOTIVATING!

    In case you get into a bind and MUST have jar lids, let me know and I’d be glad to pick some up and ship them to you. I was so looking forward to the clearance sales they usually have at Walmart this time of year on jars and lids. Just found out last week that my Walmart is now going to start carrying canning supplies ALL YEAR LONG!…[Read more]

    My boyfriend works for Boar’s Head meat and this summer they were offering really good deals on whole deli chickens. It was TOO good to pass up so we bought several and I cut it into cubes and canned it. I did it from the meat directions in my Ball Blue Book and it is SO easy. This was actually my first time canning raw chicken and it’s simple…[Read more]

    I guess I should have paid more attention as a kid when mom was cutting up chicken! I FINALLY got my $0.48 lb chickens cut up and canned but the cutting up part took much longer than I was expecting. Oh well, at least it’s done! Tonight I’m going to try to find time to can cranberries.

    • Hi Debbie! That was a great deal….Would you mind telling me how you do it? I do a lot of canning,mostly green beans,tomatoes from our garden.I did vegetable soup a couple weeks ago….But I have never done meat…Thank you

        • Hi Debbie! Sorry it has taken me so long to say thank you…I haven’t canned any chicken yet. I will have to wait until I can find jar lids. I used all I had, and now the stores around here aren’t stocking them.I really do want to try this…for QUICK MEALS. Thanks again. Take care.

    Farmer’s Foods is opening today and has whole chickens for $0.48 lb (limit of 4). Guess I’ll be canning chicken tonight when I get home!

    Canned 26 half-pints of mushrooms tonight! My first time canning mushrooms so I’m pretty excited. I love using them when I cook but never seem to have them when I need them.
