@brookdale, cherry pits wouldn’t cook away, they’re really really hard.(Just ONE that I missed totally destroyed a brand-new food processor once. Lesson learned lol)
I’m curious what kind of flavor they […]

Imagine eating a hotdog without it. Or to not have this on your ham sandwich. You just can’t imagine a life without it, but I haven’t read on this forum of anyone who has made their own. What I’m talking about?? MUSTARD of course! I don’t know how many varieties are out there, I’m only familiar with […]

Just had a pail of pears given to me. They look bad as they have a disease on the peel, but they taste just great. I will probably dry some and maybe make some pear butter or maybe a pear pie. Does anyone have a favorite way to dry pears?

Made jerky last weekend. It’s hunting season and I kept a pan full of venison sliced for jerky. Didn’t really use a recipe. Took some teriyaki marinade, added some other teriyaki sauce I had in the cupboard. Added some chopped garlic, a little chopped ginger, and soaked it for a day, squishing it around to […]

Dried more apples the other week. Tried drying the peels to grind but could not get them crispy enough. Is there a trick to that? I left them in a few extra hours but it didn’t seen to help.

Forgot to mention. I dried cucumbers the other day. They taste like fresh grass to me, lol. Kinda like that green stuff we used to drink for health about 20 years ago.

Well, apple season is coming soon. I went and bought one of those gadgets that peels, cores and slices all at once. That way I can prepare the apples for drying that much quicker! Cannot wait to use it!

Sherie, meant to ask what the dried cucumbers taste like. I have some left from dill pickles and might like to try them.

Woohoo! I’ve got my first ever batch of hashbrowns drying in the dehydrator. Hubby and I dug potatoes yesterday. There’s only the 2 of us but I planted a dozen plants; so, way too many for us to eat as we don’t eat them real often. A small baked one once a week and hashbrowns […]

I don’t really think you should avoid salmon. True it is a fattier fish, but it is the GOOD fat which is omega 3 fatty acid. Very healthy for you. Besides, salmon still has less fat than lean beef or even chicken. Enjoy it!! We eat quite a bit of fish. Hubby is an avid […]

Heat olive oil in a large, heavy pot over medium heat. Add onions, garlic and bell peppers. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables have wilted. Add spices and cook for 1 minute longer, stirring to coat vegetables well with spices. Add tomatoes with juice, meat, and squash. Bring all to a boil, […]
