Eating this warm with some vanilla ice cream is a treat that is sooo delightful. For fun, I sometimes make the liquid part increased by 1/3 for more pudding. 😉
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 9
Prep Time: 10 min Cook Time: 20-30 minIngredients
Cake:
1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup walnuts, optional
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sauce:
1/4 cup cocoa
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cups boiling water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350F.
CAKE:
Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix in the walnuts if using. Stir in the milk and oil and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Spread the batter into an ungreased 8″ baking tin. Set aside.
SAUCE:
Combine the cocoa powder and brown sugar. Pour the boiling water over the mixture. Stir well to ensure that it is all dissolved.
Gently pour over the batter and do not stir.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the cake tests done. Makes its own pudding.
Set aside to cool before serving. Great with whipped cream or ice cream. Rich!
