Pantry Cakes

Posted By GrannyTrace On August 4, 2011 @ 1:03 am In Blog | 4 Comments

This is a recipe for a prim gift or decoration. Not edible! But so enjoyable. I had my nieces and nephews over one day to make these. My granny boy and girl helped, too.

It was a lot of fun and wow! the smell was awesome. All the kids were troopers and wore aprons. They all pitched in too. We baked all day and made many good memories.

These sweet pantry cakes can be made as big or small as you like. I have put one in a old pie pan and put a tea light in the middle. I also added some scented rose hips to give as a gift.

A gift to share or keep for yourself. Enjoy!

How to make Pantry Cakes:

(non-edible)

2 cups flour
1 cup kosher salt
1 cup strong coffee
6 tbs cinnamon
non-stick spray
molds for cakes

Mix flour, salt, cinnamon and coffee together.

Spray molds with non-stick spray, spreading it in the grooves with your finger.

Sprinkle additional cinnamon on non-stick spray. Press flour mixture into mold, making sure it’s pushed all the way down into the mold.

Place on cookie sheet and bake at 175F for 5 to 6 hours.

Sprinkle with more cinnamon when they come out of oven.

There are lots of variations of this recipe. We were very happy with how they turned out and the smell was heavenly.
