I recently started making my own kefir (easier than making yogurt!) and regularly sub it in recipes calling for buttermilk, yogurt and even sour cream sometimes. I find I actually like kefir better than plain yogurt. But I’m wondering if there are any recipes that take advantage of the effervescence it can develop in a tightly-closed container.
And really I’m looking for any recipes that call for kefir in particular — subbing it for the other ingredients is handy and tastes great but surely, since it’s been around for so long, there are recipes that specify it. Cheeses? Breads? Who knows what else…
Suzanne had placed a recipe she developed for biscuits made in a skillet that consisted mostly of honey, butter and perhaps shortening as well. She had stated that she was looking for a buttery biscuit with honey in it and created this recipe. I made this recipe almost 8 months ago and it was not a new recipe. I cannot find it online and was curious if it could be reposted or I could be sent this recipe. Thanks!
Okay, so I never had beans growing up and the only beans that I’ve come into contact with are in like chili or re-fried beans. I hate chili and re-fried beans, although I am getting better at eating spicy food without gagging.
Does anyone have a recipe that I can trick myself into eating beans? Hopefully–as a jumping off point…
I need some help finding the right recipe for the No Bake Cookies, that calls for cocoa, sugar, oatmeal and butter and peanut butter. I’ve made them before but am wondering what the right technique or recipe is to make them have a sheen and the glossy look rather than turn out dry-ish and hard or pasty….does anyone know what I mean? Hoping someone knows the trick! Thanks so much!
When I was a child, my mother often made us baked rice for breakfast. Now that I am thinking to ask her for her method, she can’t remember it.
I am remembering crunchy top, creamy insides, which makes me think it probably was cooked with milk. Probably some mild spice like cinnamon, no other “things” (raisins etc)
I have looked at baked rice pudding recipes but knowing what her budget would have been 40 years ago, doubt she could have afforded eggs.
So, I am looking for a very simple baked rice technique – did anyone else’s mother/grandmother do something like this?
Just joined Weight Watchers online and was wondering if anyone has any tried and true recipes, especially with the new points value. My SIL had great success on the old plan, so will contact her to see if she has revamped any of her old recipes to the new points system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Some years ago a friend gave me some cake at Christmas for a gift and the recipe. It was called a fruit cake, but was mostly nuts like brazil, pecans, and other nuts. I divorced, moved etc. and since can’t find the recipe. I wonder if anyone might have that recipe? I’m sorry I don’t have the correct name either. I would love to have it for the next holiday season. Thank you ahead of time.
