This is my Grammy’s recipe, from the 1920’s I guess. She was married in 1917.
There’s a microwave version of this; I’ll post it separately.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 4 - 6
Prep Time: 5 min. or so Cook Time: Abt 1 1/4 hoursIngredients
2 1/2 c milk
1/2 c uncooked rice
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg
1/2 c seedless raisins (optional)
Directions
Scald milk in top of double boiler.
Stir in rest of ingredients.
Cook covered over hot water until rice has absorbed all of the milk, stirring frequently.
Check to make sure the water in bottom pan hasn’t boiled dry – add a little more hot water if needed.
Serve warm.
