Tartar Sauce

Submitted by: princessvanessa on January 21, 2011

So many store-bought tartar sauces have an odd flavor or taste downright nasty. I read a few of the tartar sauce labels to get an idea of the basic ingredients and tweeked them until I found something I liked. Note: Capers add a lot to the overall flavor.

Servings: 10 - 12   Prep Time: 20 minutes   Cook Time: no cooking required

1 3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 medium dill pickle, chopped fine (or use sweet pickle if you prefer)
2 Tablespoons drained capers, chopped fine
3 Tablespoons white onion, chopped fine
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped fine
2 Tablespoons deli-style horseradish
1 teaspoon pickle juice (or you can use lemon juice)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
White pepper and/or salt to individual taste

In a bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Transfer mixture to covered container and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Use on seafood as desired.
