And There was Joy across the Land

It’s a snow day! Children are outside writing “hi” in the snow on my car and trying to make a snowman out of a basketball. Their perfect snow day–go outside, get sloppy wet, and track it all back in.

Me, my perfect snow day is warm inside, baking something that smells good, curling up with a book. I cooked a big honey ham the other day, so I’m baking bread for sandwiches. Bread’s rising in a bowl already, coffee’s on, and I’ve got plenty of good books. You?

More joy! My new favorite thing–the garden window for the kitchen!!! Isn’t this adorable? It has a shelf, and the sides have screens where I can open the window for air flow. Like when I burn stuff. :cowsleep:

The windows are almost all in now, so it was very exciting to go out to the house yesterday to see.

And here’s the front door!!!

The neatest thing about the front door isn’t the door. It’s the wireless doorbell. And it’s not that it’s wireless (which is neat, but I’m not that interested in this techno stuff….). What’s neat about the doorbell is that it plays 64 selectable tunes that you can change out whenever you want, such as Jingle Bells, Happy Birthday, bird sounds, etc. Is that fun or what? Princess is going to be all over this doorbell….. Maybe it was a mistake…. But I couldn’t resist!!!

We had 12 cms of snow between Saturday and Monday. That’s 4.7 inches. Environment Canada is telling us that country-wide, we’re supposed to have the snowiest and coldest winter in 15 years. Tell you what, I’d rather YOU have it. The kids will have a blast. Me, I’ve already shovelled my driveway 4 times and I’m NOT impressed.

As for your garden window and front door…I love them! Gee, I didn’t know you could get door chimes that play a variety of melodies. Why am I surprised? 😆

Come to think of it, I didn’t know there was such a thing as a “garden” window, either! See how much I’m learning from your blog? It’s fun *and* educational.

BTW, if there are NO technical difficulties with the newly designed blog format, it’ll be a miracle, Suzanne. There are *always* technical difficulties. Heh heh.

You will love the doorbell :shimmy: We had one like that before we sold our house. The kids loved hearing Happy Birthday on their special day. Christmas was great cause you can change it to play several different songs. Enjoy. I have never seen a window like your kitchen window. How neat. Now you have a place to grow your fresh herbs. I am glad you got the snow and not me. I’m not ready yet. 😆 Have a great day and  to all.

LOVE the garden window. If I didn’t have such a black thumb, I’d want one.

64 tunes?! I’d love to have that doorbell. You are going to love the garden window.

We have a doorbell exactly like that, I think ours plays twenty. Just changed it to Jingle Bells on the weekend. In summer its ‘take me out to the ballgame’ :friday:
    Neat kitchen window

Hey! My garden window doesn’t open like that. It does at the top…which does me no good–no airflow.

    The doorbell sounds like fun!

And you can keep that snow your direction. I’m so not ready for snow. We had a few flurries today, that’s all.

Um, snow? What’s that? Here in central TX we were in the 70s today. (After starting the day in the 40s)

Can’t wait to see the new blog!
