I pre-ordered it the first opportunity. I’ve made assumptions about Suzanne’s back story and why, after beginning to establish the Studio at Stringtown Rising, she (abruptly) moved. Can’t wait to find out the real reasons and all the details. There must be a lot in the book that she just didn’t share in the blog.  Then there are the people that Suzanne has met along the way and those who have helped her. Apparently there are some in one group who are not in the other–hmmmmm. And, I’m guessing that Suzanne’s ability to tell a sad story with humor or a humorous story with pathos will make the book a wonderful read. Four weeks and counting,

Been talking up the book with friends and my local library.  The library ordered a copy of the book just because I asked them about it!  Who knew that they would do that?  (Probably everyone but me!  butterfly)

Then, stopped by a couple of my local booksellers to see if they had placed their orders yet.  One had and one had not but both told me that they would love to have advance sales.  So, for those who do not want to order online for whatever reason, there is another option for placing an advance order – your local bookstore!     shimmy

Speaking of libraries—here’s another distribution route:  I gave a set of books to my local branch library. This meant the books got listed in the system’s catalog (Chicago Public Library). Numerous requests for interlibrary loans prompted CPL to buy additional copies! I’ll be asking for Suzanne’s book at my local branch and we’ll see what happens. Anybody have contacts at FFA and 4H? Requests from them could be another route to getting Suzanne’s book in the hands of Young Adults.

Most everyone probably already knows this, but for those of us who don’t routinely order things from the internet, Suzanne has provided another tool for us to use to order a copy of her book.  Wherever you see these four buttons:

Pre-Order Now!

Amazon Button BarnesandNoble Button iBooks Button IndieBound Button

if you click on the “Indie Bound” button on the far right it will let you search for independent bookstores near you.  How cool is that?  You can find a neighborhood store wherever you might be in the next couple of weeks!  Or order books as gifts wherever the recipient might live – just let them pick up their copy at a bookstore near them!

Oh, the possibilities!

Leah, I guarantee that you will enjoy it.  You will have several AHAH! moments.  Some will be, “Oh, I remember that.”  And there will be other moments when you say, “Oh.  THAT was why that happened.”  But thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end.

Congratulations again, Leah!

Thank you Pete. I know I will always cherish the book, even though I haven’t read it yet,  because I’ve been following the blog a long time and feel like Suzanne and all you chickens are my friends.

So, Leah, what did you think about it?  I thoroughly enjoyed it, and also found it to be a page turner.

It was kinda funny, actually.  Since mine was an advance copy, I felt obligated to start reading it immediately.  And it felt a little odd preparing to read about the life a friend.  (“What if I don’t really like it” anxiety!)  Sat down the evening it arrived and didn’t put it down until it was finished!

Can hardly wait until everyone has their copies of the book so that we can start discussing it!  I am looking forward to seeing how others react.  Especially those like me who don’t usually read memoirs or romance novels.

My candid and completely honest reaction is that Suzanne wrote a book that I completely enjoyed and am certain would have enjoyed just as much had I not known her or so much of her story already.  That makes for one great reading experience.

(Want to take a guess what many people are getting for Christmas gifts this year?  happy-flower)

Your way is probably better, Leah – enjoying the book over many days rather than all at once!

Must admit that it also left me wanting more.  Not saying that this was incomplete, but more like, “What a wonderful rendition of a chapter in the life of Suzanne.  Wonder what is next.  Hmm?”
