Hand, Face & Body Lotion

This is a wonderful lotion that instantly absorbs into your skin, and it is very nourishing. Using this lotion every day will keep your skin very healthy and soft. It has a light fresh coconutty fragrance that dissipates quickly.  This is my own recipe, developed over the past 5 years.

Hand, Face & Body Lotion

1 can full-fat coconut milk (scrape all the fat out of the can!)

1 T. raw shea butter (for winter/very dry skin)

1 T. vegetable glycerin

1-2 T. aloe vera gel

1 T. jojoba oil (opt.)

2 gelcaps of Vit E oil – squeeze out oil from capsules (opt.)

essential oil for fragrance (opt.)

In a small saucepan bring the coconut milk and shea butter just to a boil. Boil for 1 minute. Shut off the stove and stir until shea butter is melted. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Let cool, stirring occasionally to keep mixture blended. Pour into a jar and keep refrigerated. I keep a small jar on my nightstand to use every night and morning. It'll keep for about a month unrefrigerated in winter, and less in the summer. If it starts to smell sour, it won't hurt you, but obviously you should compost it.

I order raw shea butter from Texas Naturals online.

To make a lighter summertime lotion, I omit the shea butter.

Good to know.  My DH gets the nastiest cracks in his hands in the winter and I keep trying new lotions for his poor hands and feet.

…and then they bought the goat! :D

Hi Meismeems,

I made and have tried this lotion using almond oil and love it!  Thank you, thank you!  It feels really nice and makes my skin feel really great. butterfly

I couldn't easily find glycerin (I guess the idea of glycerin being able to make explosives makes someone nervous) but I DID find Corn Huskers Lotion.  I am still looking for glycerin because CHL has too many unknown ingredients to it.

I would like to try and make the lotion thicker so it doesn't run so easily.  Could I do that by boiling the coconut milk down for a while or should I add more butter type stuff?  I have cocoa butter which is harder than shea butter should I try that?

…and then they bought the goat! :D

I have made this lotion, it pleasant is very great i really love it thankyou for sharing this wonderfull lotion recipe, wana tell you something Recently my friend ordered perfume and lotion from Reecoupons  they gave very good quality original fragrance product at very cheap rate. She was very happy to see her parcel. I recommend you to shop with Reecoupons, if you want to get discount on major brands and also if you want to save time and money both.
