I got a laundry soap recipe online, but found that it did not clean my clothes as well as I would like so I modified it and came up with this one that works great!! It is hypoallergenic (my hubby and kids have seriously sensitive skin) and safe for HE washers too.
Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap
(makes 10 gallons)
1 Fels-Naptha Bar, grated
6 cups hot water
Combine above ingredients into a large saucepan and heat until the bar is completely dissolved.
2 – 5 gallon buckets with lids
1-1/2 cups of super washing soda(not the arm n hammer baking soda for washing)
1-1/4 cups laundry borax
Fill 1 bucket half way with hot water. Pour in soap mixture, washing soda, and borax. Mix well and fill bucket up with more hot water. Pour half of filled bucket into other bucket. Fill both buckets back up with hot water and stir thoroughly. That's it! Use 3/4 cup for regular machines and 1/4 cup for HE machines.
Note: mixture will gel up some, so give it a good stir before using!
