I can only say I am in awe. I’ve been reading the CITR blog since October 2008, worked with Suzanne on the site, the forum and Farm Bell, planned and hosted retreats with her, emailed daily, and she still had me crying in some parts and laughing my butt off in others. I didn’t know everything in this book!  Suzanne inspired me to do what I’ve been doing and learning the last five years, but the book finally puts to words WHY she was learning and doing everything I suddenly had to have in my life. Reading the few years worth of her journey from the first page to the last page is so inspiring…and eye opening.

On October 17, 2008, I googled “how to make homemade bread without milk”.  I found so many recipes with milk, but those weren’t the ones I wanted…I wanted a recipe like Mom used to use every Sunday making enough bread for the week the entire time I was growing up.  I landed on CITR through that google and found the Grandmother Bread recipe.  I remember the date, that’s the date I became a member of the CITR forum and found a new place to come to daily, or let’s be honest, all throughout the day.  I found kindred spirits of what I wanted to do…the people in my life weren’t on the same page as me, but I found a whole family here who were.

I found CITR when I was researching how to make cheese. WOW! I learned how to do that, and now canning, including pressure canning. It is so empowering. I feel like a genius every time. I’ve also helped others get started in cheesemaking.

Thanks, Suzanne!

I (sorta) have a farm in Africa.

I honestly cannot remember how I found this site, but I suspect it had something to do with my fascination of going back to simpler times – simpler in the way things were done, not in the amount of work it required!  I have always admired those who have the courage to give up what they have in the modern world to return to their roots.  I cannot wait to read the book!  I also shared the giveaway on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/lise.c.simpson

I belong to several soap making forums. Someone on one of those posted a link to The CITR Hot Process Soap recipe (or the liquid soap one, can’t remember). I started exploring the site, and fell in love. I still refer new liquid soapers to the CITR instructions on a regular basis.

I was just surfing the web one day.  I always wished I could live on a farm, and happened across this blog.  I have been hooked ever since.  I love hearing about Suzanne and her family.  Her animals are great characters.  I hope someday to be half as content!  Looking for my farmer still, lol!

CITR came to me on a day that I was searching for some sort of direction in life. My world had turned upside-down and while searching through many different blogging sights I found a strong woman, who through her willingness to share the funny side of a seemingly difficult life, makes me smile and laugh. She is an encouragement to me that kids will turn out alright, the mortgage will get paid, life is ok no matter what comes my way. Thank you Suzanne for that! You are appreciated more than you know. God bless you.

I don’t remember how I came upon Chickens in the Road, but I’m sure glad I did. I’ve been reading for several years and I would love to win this book.

I heard Suzanne interviewed on an Public Radio show while staying at a cabin in West Virginia.  As soon as I got home I looked up the website and have been following along ever since.  :-)

CITR came recommended by someone on a homesteading board I frequent. I have loved reading about Suzanne’s day to day adventures. :)

(I hope I followed the directions correctly regarding winning the free copy of Suzanne’s book.)

Editorial remark:  Yes, you did, but second entries only count when they include a facebook link.  So, without that, this does not count as a second entry.
