Jill Shalvis asked her readers what other sites they visit. Three responses mentioned Chickens in the Road. Loved the title so I checked it out. The step by step cooking and craft posts/pix and the great animal tales kept me coming back again and again. So, I finally signed up. BTW, I was following Shalvis for her ‘Lucy’ stories–I’ve never read a romance novel!

I think I did it right!
I have to make sure I don’t read any of the comments from those who have read the book. I pre-ordered mine, but will not receive it until November :( Maybe I can get it faster this way, and save the other one for gifting.

2nd post. I don’t remember how I got here, but I’ve been here daily for at least five years! Love this place, and am happy when I can sign in. It hasn’t been easy lately. Oh well, as long as I can read, I’m good!

I first found CITR while Suzanne was still living in the crooked old house. I loved reading about her family, gardening, baking and all. I watched Stringtown Rising rise. I love this site and can hardly wait to read the book.

2nd post (3)
I’ve been at this for quite a while. I think I finally figured out this cross posting idea, but now I’m having trouble posting here. My keyboard and I must be on different wavelengths today.
I posted the CITR info at https://www.facebook.com/egiesecke
@GrammieEarth–So far no comments have given away anything in the book. Perhaps, until the book has been widely read, any commenters will post a SPOILER ALERT when appropriate.
Comment from Pete: This holder of an advance copy will NOT do anything but tease about how wonderful it is, and other things which would not spoil everyone else’s enjoyment of Suzanne’s book, and I suspect that the others would also agree.

I can’t remember when I first visited CITR, I know it was when Suzanne was getting ready to move to the Stringtown Rising farm. I think I was looking for a recipe for something, can’t remember what! But I have been a faithful follower ever since. DH and I LOVE this blog and forum and FarmBell recipes! Suzanne has been such an inspiration to me to start baking again, to not be afraid to make bread, to decorate with wildflowers from the roadside, to make candles, to CAN, and so many other things.
I would love to win the copy of her book…I have pre-ordered but it would make a perfect gift for my sister. Thanks for offering this.
I am not on Facebook so can’t take advantage of the 2nd offer.

There wasn’t exactly a day that I found CITR, but when I searched for cheesemaking, it showed up. Then dehydrating, canning, soapmaking, sugar scrubs, cows milk, chicken raising,,you name it CITR showed up. Now I can use a pressure canner, my cheesmaking kits are on their way, made my sugar scrubs, soaps, dehydrated more things than I thought I could and each day seems like I learn alittle more, thanks to Suzanne and all that are here!
So you can say to what ever I was searching for, all road lead me to Chicken’s in the Road,,so I started to read the blog,,and I was hooked. I had to go back to the beginning and read. I have never been so in tuned with anyone before. Her struggles were my struggles, her heart aches matched mine, her strength was mine. It is nice to “know” another who has fears, but determination gets us through. And if God willing and the creeks don’t rise,,it can be done.
My adventure with this site starting in 2013, and I plan to keep having the adventures along with Suzanne.
Also, when I get my chickens next spring,,I can just blame Suzanne,,LOL!! She has me hooked on the idea!!
I would so love a copy of her book!!!

Like several of the previous posters I stumbled on this site while searching for a recipe. I have been challenged to get out of my comfort zone and try new things and to revisit things I had done in the past. I also know that if I am having an issue with something someone has either been there, done that or knows how to do it. This site has become my go to source for help and inspiration.

I came across Chickens in the Road through a browser service/profiler called Stumbleupon.
I was hooked from the first read, and I read it every morning when I awaken.
I love the blog, and am very appreciative that Suzanne shares so much with her faithful readers!
I wait most impatiently for her book!
Thank you,
TH

I came to CITR ages ago when I’d googled ‘mean rooster.’ Was hoping to find a resolution to my issue (I ate him) but I’ve been here ever since. That was almost 5 years ago?! So excited to see the book finally coming out!!!
Oh, how I love this reply of yourS! Esp the “(I ate him)”.
