I found CITR when I was searching the internet on country life and farming. It looked interesting and I have been following it ever since. You are living the life I have dreamed of but was afraid to live. Through your blog, I have found that certain parts of this life I could not handle (like having to kill an animal for food) but the rest I would love to experience. I would have to be veggie farmer and keep all the animals as pets. Thanks for this blog, I will continue to follow you.

I love Suzanne and her CITR. I read her blog daily (or at least as often as I can, catching up when I can’t) I use some of her recipes, and fantasize about soap, candle and cheesemaking. I found her when looking for an improved bread recipe, and have followed her since. It’s been a long time, because I know my DH was still living when I first found the site, that’s why I was looking for bread recipes. Now that he’s passed, I continue to visit because Suzanne inspires me to believe I can be more than simply someone’s wife, when I once believed that that was all I would ever be. I love this independent woman and the idea that I too am capable…Thanks for reminding me of what “hope” can look like, and for showing me daily some of the things that are possible even for a single woman in the world…with humor, grace and humility.
I did share the link on my FB, but don’t really understand the instructions for “If you post to Facebook, come back to make your 2nd entry with the link to your Facebook posting.” I wonder? is this it? https://www.facebook.com/less2saw?hc_location=stream

I found this blog when I was looking for a primitive craft to make with my third graders around Christmas time. I was fascinated when I saw the crafter was from my home state of WV. I started reading Suzanne’s blog around five years ago and have lived vicariously through her on many occasions. I think her strength and willingness to face the sometimes scary unknown has given me the courage to make decisions in my life that I might not have done if I hadn’t been reading her blog. I had a chance to go to the CITR Retreat last fall at the 4H camp and learned so much from all the classes. I have recently retired and can’t wait to attend more classes. I love the style of Suzanne’s writing and her quick wit when she comments on her critters! I can’t wait to read more!

I live in Charleston, WV. I was reading the paper one evening and came across Suzanne’s column when it was new. I loved it, and immediately looked up her blog. After reading just a couple of entries, I was hooked! I’m an animal lover and mother of a teenage daughter about Morgan’s age, so I could relate on so many levels. I’ve been reading since Ross was still in high school, and after all this time Suzanne’s is the only blog I still read several times a day. I don’t even read my OWN blog that often!

It has been so long (3 or 4 years), I can’t quite remember…but I think I came across the CITR blog linked through a thread on http://www.backyardchickens.com or on another blog I was reading at the time.

I was on Facebook one day and saw where Mary Janes Farm ‘liked’ Chickens in the Road. As an admirer of hers I was intrigued and checked it out and oh what a joy it has been. I have learned, laughed and loved every minute. Thank you for everything Suzanne!
