Hello everyone, I have to share with you the greatest  garage sale adventure  I have ever had. My neighbor and I started out this moring to look for goodies at the local sales, which are too may to count. We were looking for kitchen items, she had really got into baking and needed several items so we decided to do sales before going retail. She did find some very nice baking pans, mixing bowls and glass measuring cups, but the biggest find was just as we were headed home, you know how it is—-just one more stop.

The lady having the sale was so nice and we began to talk, I asked her did she have any small appliances that she would like to get rid of, she thought just a moment and said she had a blender, and, oh yes, a bread machine she never uses!!!!! We could have them both for $5 –we were dumb struck and said that would be wonderful. As we were leaving I saw an old marble table top in the back of the garage and as her if she would like to sell it, she said “if you can use it, just take it, the table broke years ago”  we loaded it up very quickly. This a day of days, my friend has everything she has been wanting for her new found endevor, the marble top will fit nicely on her counter top and wii be perfect for her dough baking.

When you go to a sale and if there is something you are wanting but don’t see it, ask, the seller may have it stuck away somewhere and you can get a very nice deal.

Share some of your finds.   Have fun and happy hunting.happy-flower

My favorite garage sale finds are : a wrought iron patio table and chairs that I got for 30$ over 10 years ago, a beautiful glass chess set, Harry Potter in Spanish, and egg rolls! A lady in my neighborhood was selling fresh, made to order egg rolls at her garage sale and they were awesome!!

Since I really need to have one myself I am trying to avoid them.  But sometimes they just speak to me.

Earlier today my Step Son took me into the city to a very large antique mall, oh the bargins I found, I came home with lots of stuff that we dont need, my Hubby was so pleased. I found a lot of well priced old Pyrex  and  Glasbake pieces. Most of these finds will be filled with baked goods and given as holiday gifts. You know you are getting along (old) in life when thing called “antiques” are things from your childhood. I wonder about items being newly made items sold today, will they still be around long enough to be classified as antiques. True antiques are supposed to be at least 100 years old and less than that are classified as collectables. Reguardless, I had a wonderfull time looking at all of the “old stuff” and remembering when.  I can’t wait to go back again!

Sounds like so much fun, Joell! And what a great idea to fill the old Pyrex with baked goodies and give as gifts!

Remember, if it rains on your picnic it's also raining on your garden!

Hi Brookdale, when we were at the antique mall, I noticed a lot of young gals shopping for kitchen items, I did ask one of them why she was buying vintage kitchen ware and she told me she wanted her kitchen to look like her Nana’s kitchen and she wanted her children to grow up in a kitchen like her Nana’s, She said it was where she spent most of her time when she went for visits and how much she loved all of the dishes and furniture  etc. I thought that was so sweet.
