Morning Mary,

How is hubby now?  Is he back to work?  I'm still battling this darn cold.

I have african violets blooming in our work lobby.  I can't believe they stay alive, it's cold in there, but when it's sunny it warms up wonderfully.  I keep the dying leaves and blooms picked off and just water them from below. They don't like to have their leaves wet.   pawprint

Hey now, I'm impressed.  I know African Violets are picky picky.  You must have a green thumb.

Hub went back to work last nite and it was miserable damp cold today.  I feel bad for him.  He is home now and warm and dry.  Thanks for asking.

What are you doing for your cold?

Awww girl I hope you're feeling better today.  What day of the cold are you into?  I think it runs 5 to 7 days doesnt it?  You going to get hit with that momma storm coming?  Man it's a bad one!  It's scheduled to hit us tonight.

Hey Cheryl!

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather.  Lots of rest and fluids should help.  Hope you're feeling better in no time. Besides, in this storm, there's not too much else you can do.  So get your rest. Snuggle up with those puppies and keep warm!   happy-flower

Thanks NorthCountryGirl & MaryB

I've got sweet potatoes drying in the oven and checking out the forum and then I'm off to the couch to either just curl up with a doggie or two or with my crocheting.

I slept from 7:00 pm last night until 5:40 when the alarm went off.  I still wanted to stay in bed.

The storm is on it's way… I'll know in the morning how bad it is.. until then we are safe and warm ;)

Hope everything is doing well and safe!!!   pawprint

That sleep was just what you needed, Paws.   The rain has started here.

I feel better today!! hopefully this is a sign that the cold is improving.  We got about 4 inches of snow here last night, nothing like the huge storm they were calling for.  Blowing is causing the most problems.  I had to snow blow my driveway to get out, but took it slow and easy this morning!!

I hope everyone is doing well.  Stay safe   pawprint

I'm staying inside and trying to keep warm.  I had to leave the girls in the henhouse today. Their gate to the chicken yard is frozen from the ice.  SO, the girls stay inside. I'm afraid if I drop their door to let them out, the door will freeze fast and I won't be able to get into the yard to loosen it.  Hubby has a job digging the ground a bit lower in front of the gate. The cold weather heaves the ground around here and I can barely get the gate opened on a clear day.  That's another thing on my TO DO list.  happy-feet

Cheryl:

Funny you should say they won't mind cause when I went out to check on them, they were real quiet and acting like ladies.  Now, they probably won't want to go outside…that is till they spy the goodies I put out there for them.  :)

Pat that works every time!!!  Oh I'm sure they knew how it was and were content to stay where they were.  Do you get less eggs in cold weather?  pawprint

Hi Mary,

How are things in your area?  what have you been up to today?

We got a bit more snow today, but hoping the roads won't be to bad.    pawprint

We did. There for awhile we were down to 0 to 3 at the most a day.  As the days started to lengthen, the amount of eggs grew. Yesterday I got 10 eggs from 12 mature hens. There are three more from the last hatch that will hopefully mature sometime this month.

Do I bribe my girls??? Would I do that????  Darn right!  I spoil these ladies rotten. In return, they lay the best tasting eggs I've ever eaten.  It's a win-win situation.  I take care of them; they take care of me.  I also give my 3 neighbors who were kind enough to allow me to keep my girls (even though it's against restrictions on our properties) a dozen eggs each week when the girls are in full lay.  They absolutely gush over how good the egg are. I'm just thankful they said I could. yes

That's wonderful!!! what good neighbors you all are!!!  Spoiling is a good thing… you should see my dogs.  On our trip last September Steven went inside a store to see what they had and came out another door with ice for all the dogs and us…. they love ice cream… but it's only a special treat!    pawprint

Hey, they are worth a little treat now and then.  I grew up with parents that treated our animals as part of the family.  We were taught great respect for animals.  Even hunting, my dad and brother only shot what would be eaten…no trophies.  That respect I taught my kids and grand kids.  Animals have life too and it's as valuable to them as ours is to us.

I'm telling you we missed the bullet this time.  The temperature's dropped now to 30, (was 58), and it's flurring and windy, but that's all!  So I will not complain.  How is your cold Paws?

Oh the doggies are all like family in my house.  All my dogs are indoor dogs… Luka (husky) loves sitting on the deck in cooler weather just enjoying himself.  I have a few pictures I took of him and labeled them “The Watch”  He sits so still and will be like for such a long time…LOL.  Some days he has a look on his face like… really I have to come in Mom… The other 2 don't have nearly the fur so unless they are playing tag for a bit… it's time to come in when they are done their business in this weather.

Both my kids treat their dogs like on of the family too.   pawprint
