We have a second book available!!! To avoid confusion, I think there should be separate lists. Also to avoid confusion, I'm going to let you all choose to move yourselves if you want to. If you are pretty far down on the original list, you will get it faster by signing up again here. If you sign up again here, we will take care of deleting your sign-up in the first list. (You can't be signed up in both lists. If you sign up here, we'll delete your post in the first list.)
Here are the “rules” to participate:
1) You must be registered on the forum to sign up so you can post
here and exchange PMs to give your address to the person who will send
you the book and also PM the next person on the list to get their
address and send it to them when you're finished with it.
2) Please don't sign up unless you can read the book in two weeks.
We want to keep the book moving! If you find that you can't read it,
either pass up your turn and ask the person who contacts you to send it
to the next person on the list or if you have already received it and
find that you can't read it, send it on to the next person. You can
always sign up again further down the list.
3) Once you receive the book, write your name and town/state inside
the front cover. That way, we will know where the book has been
on its journey!
4) When you are finished reading the book (or it has been two
weeks), PM (private message) the next person on the list to get their
address. To send a PM, go to the next person on the list after you and
click “Send PM at the top of their post. Here is a photo that shows
where the “Send PM” link is. (Click on the photo to enlarge.)
5. Don't disappear with the book!!!!!!!!
Okay, start signing up!
P.S. I've opened a Mammy Jane book discussion topic where you can post
about what you thought about the book after you've read it here:
https://chickensintheroad.com/forum/living-the-country-dream/mammy-jane-book-discussion/
(And I'm also collecting questions there to ask Irene about the book and the family!)
P.P.S. Don't forget which list you're on! When you come back to find the next person, be sure you find yourself first, LOL.

Yes, I think so. The second book is with Mommafox. I sent it off to her, and she did receive it. But then the flooding came to her neck of the woods.
Mommafox did send a PM to Judydee, apologizing that the book wasn't sent on in it's timely manner because it was packed up in a tote somewhere, when they had to evacuate.
Once Mommafox is a little more settled, I'm sure she will send it on it's way.
(I worried it wouldn't get to Mommafox, because we are having a postal strike in Canada, but it got across the border in the nick of time)

Mammy Jane has been unpacked and will be on her way to Memphis some time this week. Not only did I have to evacuate my home because of flooding, our local Post office packed up, lock, stock and stamps to a town up the highway, so it is no longer just a 5 minute trip for me to the post office. Thank you everyone for being patient. Especially judydee

I for one am just glad to hear you got home ok, and that your house is still standing! I've been watching whatever news I could about the status of the Missouri river, and it's been sounding hopeful lately but there hasn't been much definite to go on. I hope things aren't too big a mess for you and your friends and family. You take care now mammafox!

BuckeyeGirl,
I am still living in a temporary house. It will be several months before we can move back. I have been trying to unpack and either throw away or put into a Goodwill box. That was one of the big items on my to-do list when I retired, just didn't know I would be doing it this way. I'm trying to make it feel a little like home, but nothing is ever like HOME! We are better off than a lot of people though, because some are living in RV's, small mobile homes or even tents and shelters set up in colleges and churches. Friends and family have opened their homes for loved ones to stay, but that is not an ideal situation when it is long term.
Our roads and Interstates will be in horrific shape when the water recedes. It takes me 1 1/2 hr. to go to my cardiologist and he is only 15 miles away. All of the roads leading to the bridges that cross the Missouri river are under water. The people who work on the other side of the river are probably spending a big portion of their paycheck on gas to travel so far. Some folks are renting and staying across the river during the week. Plus renting a house out of the water and some are renting storage units for their extra stuff. It's going to be a long, hot, wet summer here, but most are rallying together trying to help those who are worse off. Life doesn't always go as we plan, but surely something good will come out of all this.
Also, to those who have offered prayers and words of encouragement, Thank You to each and every one of you.
By the way, my house doesn't have any water in it because of the wonderful farmers and volunteers who worked day and night relentlessly to erect a 3 mile levee around the southern part of our town. The people who live outside of town however do have water and some have even had their homes come off the foundations and float away. There are large (400 ft. wide) holes in the federal levee that is protecting our town so water is rushing into all the farmland to the West of us. There are several whole towns that are under water, so you can see while I feel blessed even though I am going through this displacement.

I'm so sorry, mommafox! Displacement is still DISPLACEMENT! That is a traumatic ordeal. There is worse, yes, for those who have lost their homes, but that doesn't negate the ordeal of others going through having to live away from their homes. I can't even imagine having to do that on a longterm basis. A lot of whining would be involved……….

The Mammy Jane book #2 is unpacked, and on the way to judydee in Memphis as of this morning. A great book to read. Hard to put down, so it really doesn't take long to get through. Barring any more unforseen circumstances, it should get through the list pretty quick. Maybe more should switch over from list #1. If my addition is correct, there are only 6 more after me.
