This year has been a rough year for gardens in our area, so much rain, many of them just rotted in the ground. Our vegetable garden is small and is in a raised bed, so it survived. We have a lot of tomatoes and peppers, but nothing except the cherry tomatoes are getting ripe and we are getting lots of the Hungarian peppers, which we love, but I am so anxious for a nice home grown tomato on homemade bread, we look every day for that first tinge of color on our tomatoes, hopefully that will happen soon, I think we are going to have an early Fall.
How is your garden doing?

What an exciting morning! Hubby came in the house and told me we have 5 tomatoes that are ripe and ready to be picked, it seems like a miracle, I didn’t see any that were even turning when last I looked at the garden. We are going into town today to purchase some cottage, one of our favorite things to eat this time of year is a nice plate of cottage and tomatoes. I will be having that tomato sandwich on homemade bread too! It is amazing the joy we receive from life’s simple pleasures.

I too am looking forward to some ripe tomatoes. We had a ton of rain in June and pretty much nothing since. I have in ground plants this year but am making plans for raised beds for next year. I did get 6 tomatoes and made 1 batch of marinara sauce. My cherry tomatoes are coming in good. They are starting to split though. I’m afraid it almost getting too late in the season. We’ll see it’s supposed to get warm here over the weekend. Nothing did very well here this year. It’s even getting too cold overnight. Here’s hoping for some tomatoes.
