I am looking for a recipe for a tried and true BROWN SUGAR ICING or PENUCHE ICING, I have checked Farm Bell and didnt find anything. I know we are not supposed to post recipes on the blog but if you have a recipe or can direct me to a site that has one that you have made, I would be most grateful.
Thank you.

I bake a lot of pies and use fresh fruit when I have it, but I also use canned fillings most of which I don’t really care for. Last week when I was at Krogers I purchased a can of their own brand of “Extra Cherry” filling. Amazing! So much better than any of the national brands I have used, I have since purchased the peach and strawberry filling and have just taken a stawberry pie out of the oven. The cans have a lot of filling, not just “gluey” filler. I hope they continue to carry the filling at our local store, I plan to stock up for Winter.

I made a Dutch baby for the first time today. The kids loved it.
As a sidenote, it looks like the forums aren’t very active anymore. I have been gone awhile and maybe I’m not looking in the right places but most of the “recent” posts aren’t that recent. Is it really slower now or is it just me?

Got up earlier than usual this morning to bake bread, it was so warm and humid I baked in the basement oven as not to warm the house. It has been so warm and muggy this week and T-storms expected much of the day. I have been sitting and making notes of all the things I want to cook when it gets cooler chili, vegetable soup, stew, chicken and noodles, french onion soup and the list goes on. I just want cooler days and nights. But for now we enjoy tomatoes, peppers and squash, I guess every season has it “good stuff”.

I sent our Son a text asking him if he would pick up some items from the store for us and he said he would be happy to and them he asked if I would bake him a cake and I said I would be happy to and then Hubby saw an ad on TV showing a cherry pie, and I said I would be happy to—so that is what I did this morning

A nice cool morning here so I decided to bake a cake, I have some cake mix that need to be use, I made a white cake but forgot to use the whites only so it will be a light yellow cake with a almond and coconut frosting. I enjoy baking from scratch but have no problem with mixes, always doctor them, but love using them.

Please pray for the victims of Harvey and give what you can towards the relief, so matter how little it might be, it is more than a lot of folks affected have now.
Thank you.
This morning I baked a pumpkin pie, made this house smell so go. Nice cool morning.

This morning I baked a small Milk Pie aka poor man’s pie. It is sort of a fore-runner of sugar cream pie. I found the recipe in an old Penn. Dutch cookbook that was given to me over 50 years ago. When there was left over pie crust, it was rolled out and fitted into a pan, then filled with a mixture of milk, sugar and some flour, baked until it is mostly set. The filling is not as thick as a custard or sugar cream pie.
