I thought there was already a topic out there for pics of farm babies, but if there is, I couldn’t find it, so here we go. Since it’s that time of year, I thought it would be fun if we had a place to share pics of new arrivals.

Our cows are due to start calving any day now, and when they do, I’ll be back to share pics. For now though, these are some lambs that one of our neighbors is having.

Twiggity Farm just had 3 sets of triplet Nigerian Dwarves born in the past 12 hours.  This little doe is Cookie Doe’s granddaughter. She came into the world just a few hours after the Kickstarter project was funded so in honor of Suzanne’s project we have named her Sassafras.c5-Sassafras-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Here’s a calf born at 7am this morning. I took pics and video when he/she was only 4 hours old. (Not sure of the sex yet as we don’t want to handle the baby too much as that upsets Mama cow.)

His/her mama is a heifer, so this was her first calf and she did really well. To see more pics and video too of the little tyke, click HERE.

I did it!  I did it!  Saturday pm my Snow Bunny went into labor.  We can keep an eye on her from the house.  Everything was going normal but the length of time started to worry me, let nature take it’s course from my Husband.  Well, I couldn’t wait so I walked out to the pen and she was in trouble, one leg and head was out.  Being raised on a farm I knew what needed to be done, but didnot know how, well my husband arrived and I told him, he Said “you can do it Babe, my hands are too large.’  I did it on the third try, what a rush.  Blanche’s baby brother came without any problems about 10 minutes later.  Mother and babies are doing well.  My other doe, Cassie delivered a set of triplets Friday PM without any problems.  I name the girls, but the boys are given to 4-Hers and school children for projects. I have Blanche, Charli, and Teddi now, plus 11 other young ladies, some will kid in May, which means more fresh milk, cheese, kelfir, butter and yummy desserts.

Okay, here are the Tawney Farm’s newest additions.  Finally, some girls.  Last year we had 8 boys and only 3 girls of which 2 died!!!  Let’s welcome Sheena’s girls.  They are Jacob/Merino crosses.Sheenas-girls.jpgImage Enlarger

Yes, that is one of Cookie Doe’s daughters Ginger.  The two kids on the left are hers.  The two kids on the right belong to her twin sister Snickers.

Baby Nubian goats born last week (Feb 13th) – two little girls, yay! happy-feet Haven’t named them yet… but thinking ‘Jersey Girl’ (like a Jersey calf) for the brown one, and Spotty Dotty for the spotted one.  Pictures are on my blog (there’s a link in my signature).
