I think probably the holidays have a lot to do with the inactivity of the forum.

Good morning and Happy New year to Everyone~ I have not posted on this website for a very long time and I miss it so.. When I lost my husband I posted on here and everyone had been such a source of support and comfort to me I’m still living on the farm by myself and things are doing pretty good. Have someone else farm it for me and for that I am grateful, don’t want it to grow up with weeds . Just became a Grandma 5 weeks ago and this lil girl has me wrapped around my finger already, her name is Gracie and she is a darling lil rehead that is a spunky lil thing ..Going to post some recipes that I’ve been trying and I’m looking for some new ones that are possibly low in calories .but taste good . Got to get some weight off this old body of mine…seeing someone now who has lost 70 ponds by himself and is so determined to lose 20 more to goal…. I have no will power , but who knows with the right motivation anythg can happen… Alannaheart

Congratulations Alanna.  Those granddaughters do have a way of wrapping them around your fingers don’t they?  I have three (13,11, 10).  Keep updated on the weight loss.  I didn’t think I had put on any weight until I went to zip up some jeans and out of 5 or 6 pairs I can only zip up one (two if I use an extender).  Thought it was all the Dr. Pepper I was drinking (had given it up for a while) tried switching to Lemonade but discovered it has as much sugar as the DP.

I have been thinking the same thing. When I first started following CITR there were so many folks joining in and I miss many of the ones who were active; Pete, Jeanne, Ross, Cindy, Cheryl, Sheryl and many more. If you all are still out there know you are missed. But I know I can always depend on something from Joell every day.

Hi Mamawolf,

I guess we are sort of the “keepers of the flame” for now.

I have always enjoyed this forum and have made several “friends” here. I miss a lot of the “regulars” as well. I think a lot of folks are posting on facebook, I don’t do facebook, only CITR.

I know Ross has been busy helping his wife Nancy with health issues, I miss his posts, He always has someting interesting to say. I suppose folks have been bust too. I have wondered about Cindy, Pete and BuckeyeGirl. It has been ages since I have seen anything from them.

Glad to see some activity on here.  I, too have been wondering about some of the regulars including mamajoseph.  I think maybe the last time she was on was back in June.  Maybe they have been on just not posting.

Guess I am guilty of lurking and not posting.  I have learned alot from past post and the responses to others has always been positive!  That is why I love this forum! Alanna, your not far from me I think, I am over here on Knoch.  Since someone has started the flame, why don’t we try to carry the torch on.

Have a great day and new year to all!

All my yard has today is snow and my 4 spoiled wild tom turkeys that we feed. They stick close in nasty weather!  Poor things are having a tough time trudging thru the snow.

Good Morning to you All ~ Not too much going on here at the farm today.. Trying to get some things picked up in the old farmhouse today. I’m such a clutter bug. Having a few of my friends in for a lil hor-doerves and dessert on Saturday to see my new grand daughter of 2 months, my daughter moved about a hour away and my friends don’t see her a lot .. Going to make a few of my daughters fav cookies, Cherry Bon Bons s, Butter Balls rolled in powdered sugar, some veggies and dip, glazed kolbassi and some assorted things. So hard to have any kind of party without having a lot of high calorie food . lol. Everyone have a good day . Alannachef

I haven’t been around for quite a while but will be back now.  Life and that dreaded facebook have kept me too busy.  Backing off FB and trying to live a little more!  I sure remember when this forum was really busy.  It’s happened to others I frequent also.

Where are we going and why are we in a handbasket?

Hi miki,

Thank you for posting your comment. I have never been a facebook member, the only blog I have ever taken part in is CITR, I have enjoyed this site for many years. I miss exchanging comments with a lot of the “older” memebrs and hope they return soon. As you can probably tell, I read the posts a few times a day. I have friends that are on facebook an it has become such a part of their life that they have it running all day and take it with them on their smart phones when they leave the house. It think it is nice to keep in touch with your friends, but when feel that need, I pick up the phone and call them, I like the sound of a human voice. The only walls I have are in our home and the only posts I have are the ones I leave here and the ones holding up pur fences.

Good for you, I hope you come back here more often.

Joell, I’m so encouraged reading your thoughts on Facebook, walls, and posts.  I, too, do not participate in any other blogs, nor see the obsession with social media.  I thought I was the only person on the face of the Earth!

A phone call or a handwritten letter still are too important to me.  We have no cell phones….no coverage out here!

 Hello rileysmom,

Thank you, it seems like there are so few of us left. I so enjoy getting a note or even an email from someone that I rarley see. I enjoy hearing the sound of a friends voice on the phone, I have never sent a text or read one. I have a cell phone that I carry when I go out for emergencies.  It amazes me when I hear how much time some people spend on social media. I enjoy my computer, but that is as far as I go with  “tecky”. Thank you for letting us that feel the same way that we are not alone.

We have/use cell phones.  We have the basic models they do have texting capabilities which we do not use (incoming ones are blocked).  Our kids and oldest granddaughter all have smart phones.  While they have certain advantages there are disadvantages also.  When we have family dinners they are usually banned from the table. I tell my kids that I am “too smart” for them.

We have a laptop computer that we use when traveling (GPS capability) that work better than smart phones.

Husband has a facebook account and we (yes, I troll it) use it to stay in touch with family(both near and far away) and friends that also live busy lives.

Hi, Jo!

No, you’re not alone!  We have several friends who have no tv, either.  Out here, if you haven’t a dish or something, you don’t pick up any stations.   I envy them….I would ditch the tv in a heartbeat, but hubby “needs” sports and news.

We have  OnStar in our truck, but it’s pretty spotty.  It amazes me when we got into Billings, just how many people have a phone glued to their heads!

Mamajhk, you are wise to set dinner table rules.  Hubby’s son and daughter came out for a visit and the gadgets were on 24/7.  They are both old enough to know better….but….

We were traveling this summer in New Mexico and it was the first time we encountered really spotty almost nonexistent cell service (we have Verizon) even along the interstate.  When we did find service they wanted code word to access their service.
