Free Book Friday: The Picture of Summer

Summerrrrrrr!!!! :woof:

I took this photo of a dog running in the surf at Myrtle Beach. I love dogs at the beach! They’re so much fun. Yesterday was the last day of school here. Today–no alarm clock, no bus, no papers from school to sign, no kids rushing around scrambling to find their backpacks…. Just dogs running in the surf and the sound of waves pounding the sand. I’m spending the entire summer relaxing at a beach house in the Outer Banks!!

Okay, that’s so a lie. That’s the picture of my fantasy summer. My real summer? Camps–4-H and sports in June, RWA (romance writer camp, LOL) in July, and back to sports practices the first of August. Still fun, but busy-busy, and no beach in sight.

What’s your fantasy summer vs. your real summer? I’m giving away the June releases from Silhouette Romantic Suspense, and up for grabs this weekend is Shelter from the Storm by RaeAnne Thayne! Drop me a note to be in the running!

Oooh… I love RaeAnne — I even blogged about my love for her once. Hope you pick me (and even if you don’t, I’m gonna have to run out and get her book).

My ideal summer is warm every day, rain every night and NO BUGS.

    Hope you enjoy yours 🙂

Dream summer: The beach. The picture on your blog is pretty close to perfection.
Real summer: I did get to go to Fredericksburg. 🙂 But the bugs were HUGE.

  3. Teresa W. says:

I love summer this is my time for suntanning and swimming, just enjoying the weather. I usually take my vacation in the summer, so I have plenty of time for reading! Loved the picture of the beach my best friend and her family are leaving today for Myrtle Beach. (I’m jealous)

  4. Phyllis Lamken says:

I live in the Rocky Mountains. Weatherwise, the summr is perfect, sunny, cloudless days, which cool off in the evenings. However, summer is so short that it goes fast. (We had snow on the ground yesterday!!!) So we keep pretty busy with camp, summmer school, summer jobs, and work. It is great when we can camp on the weekend.

But my dream summer is a week or more on the ocean. I do love where I live, but I really, really wish I lived close to the ocean.

  5. Alice Audrey says:

I also live in the Rocky Mountains. Dream summer: no forest fires. Real Summer: probably forest fires.

  6. Ellen says:

I like cross-country road trips over the summer, but with the kids now, it’s not as easy. Instead, we spend some time at a lake cabin (rental), and if we’re lucky, we go back to my home state for a visit. Nothing real exciting, but definitely relaxing.

  7. Susan says:

Fortunately my fantasy summer vs. my real summer will be the same. Relaxing here in the mountains and reading as much as possible! :shimmy:

  8. Tori Lennox says:

Right now my dream summer would consist of one without any health problems. *g*

  9. RobynL says:

Dream summer: temps in the low 70’s,no mosquitoes, no wind or at least just a breeze, sitting on the patio with an Iced Tea and a book or chatting with friends.

Actual summer: temps in the 80’s, windy with a capital W, and having to choose an evening to sit out with mosqitoes and as little wind as possible.

  10. Lis says:

Dream summer – no mosquitoes, nice weather, finished wip

real summer – huge, biting mosquitoes who laugh in the face of the zapper and chase you around the garden, either really hot weather or pelting rain with hail and tornado warnings, half finished wip because the characters took THEIR vacation to the bahamas :flying:

  11. catslady says:

I would love your dream vacation too. Reading on a beach all day sounds heavenly. :butterfly:

  12. Brandy says:

Not commenting to win anything! *G*

Dream vacation: the mountains and a pool.
Real vacation: Don’t have a vacation, the kids homeschool all year long. *sigh*

  13. JOYE says:

My fantasy summer would be to spend it all summer in San Diego with my sister. But alas, I wait until it is really really hot here (Arizona) in August and only stay for 2 weeks. There is a mass exodus to San Diego in the summer by the people in Arizona and there we are called the “zonies”

  14. Marty says:

Being where I am, I can have beach or mountains…but definitely prefer the beach! The sound of the ocean gives me the good hibernation sleep 🙂 So…I’ll look for a movie review of Borat?

  15. KimW says:

My fantasy summer is to stay in a beach house on the ocean. I’d spend all day reading, eating and napping. Oh, and of course, my pay check would still be deposited each week so I have money to spend and can pay those bills back home. My real summer is work, work, work.

  16. Fannie M Wiggins says:

My fantasy summer, having all my family home. My real summer–Having all my family home. It just doesn’t get any better than that. My daughter and 4 grandsons will be here the week after next and stay ubtil the 1st of August. :flying: Have a great week-end and hugs to all.

  17. Rachelle says:

I’m quite fortunate to have lived in a place near the waters. The beach is only a few walks away.. Would love to win a copy of RaeAnne’s book.. Actually, I was supposed to have that name but my dad argued. LOL

  18. Toni Anderson says:

A beach house for the summer is it

  19. Michelle Willingham says:

Fantasy summer would be going back to Ireland and touring Scotland and Wales aso.

Reality is–entertaining a 5-year-old and attending RWA Nationals. :flying:
