Free Book Friday: Think Snow

Aug
10

It’s sooooo cold!!!!!!!! :cold:

Sigh. Not really. It’s SO HOT the candles in my house are melting when they aren’t even lit. And I wish I was making that up. The 100-year-old farmhouse I live in doesn’t have air conditioning. And we’re having a heat wave. They say on the news it’s the hottest summer in years. This past winter was the coldest winter in years. The pipes froze, the gas heater broke, the electric space heaters went out. Did I mention the 100-year-old house has no insulation?

And yet…. I find myself longing for snow. I sure wouldn’t complain if a few flakes decided to fall this weekend. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

Giving away this weekend–August Silhouette Romantic Suspense release Secret Agent Reunion by Caridad Pineiro. Let me know if you want to be in the drawing. And hey, think snow for me, will you?

  1. Michelle Willingham says:

Hope you get some rain to cool things down!

  2. Suzanne says:

Ha, it’s been raining every day. Quick pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon. All that’s good for is increasing the humidity to 2000 percent! :fan:

  3. Biddy says:

Ouch! I will be thinking ‘snow’ in your direction. Pop me down for the give away please! Thanks x

  4. Bonnie Ferguson says:

Sending you some snow vibes! :weather:

  5. Kim A. says:

Snow? Snow? That’s a four-letter word, Suzanne! You wouldn’t be wishing for snow if you spent a winter in almost any area of Canada except the east and west coasts. Ugh. Okay, even we are having far milder winters these years, but I don’t do winter well at all. Could do without it entirely, in fact.

I will wish you cooler temps and fresh breezes instead. 😆

And yes, please, enter me in the draw.

Drink lots of water to keep hydrated, okay?

    -Kim

  6. Susan says:

I won’t be thinking snow  , but will think much cooler temperatures and nice breezes! Please enter me in the draw.

  7. Tess Harrison says:

I believe it about that heat wave. It was 105 yesterday while I sat in rush hour traffic trying to make it to my inlaws. Here’s hoping for a cool down for all of us soon. :weather:

  8. Stefanie says:

Suzanne, I’ll send you some cold when you send me some sun.
It’s been raining here for ages. And we haven’t had any sun this summer, except for about 10 days. :wall: Where did summer go?! :drowning:
(Please enter me in de drawing too)

  9. joelle says:

I live in Ohio and it has been hot and humid here all week also, so I feel for you! We’ve also had thunderstorms on and off all week. Count me in for the draw! :fan:

  14. RobynL says:

I’d love to read about The Sparrow and there is a twin sister in there(I have a twin brother and we’re as different as day and night but…).
Here today it’s grey skies, cloudy and spurts of rain. A few days ago I sure could have used some snow.

  15. Tori Lennox says:

Are pop-up thunderstorms the newest thing in weather lingo? Our weather people never used to say it, now they say it ever freakin’ night!

Hope your heat wave breaks soon. I can’t imagine going through this awful heat with no a/c.

  16. catslady says:

Just got my electricity back after almost 13 hours and many still are without. Horrible storms and flooding in some places. I sat and listened to talk radio (well actually I read while my husband had it on) and all everyone did was complain and yell about the electric company like it was their fault and why couldn’t they complain to a live person (only 90,000 homes were without electricity). I think people need this once in a while to appreciate what they have lol. Of course my daughter had to stay over someone else’s house who had air conditioning – spoiled, spoiled, spoiled (I should have gone with her hahaha).

Put me in for the book too please :purr:

  17. Brandy says:

I, too, wold gladly take snow at this point. Some areas here measured between 106 and 111 yesterday. *sigh* And my Son wants to go somewhere today! What? And leave my house, to go out in the heat? Is he crazy?
    Wishing cooler temps for you!

  18. Brandy says:

Would (jeez, typo Queen striles again).

  19. ruth says:

The never ending hot summer. Hope that you have a great weekend.

  23. Crystal G says:

  24. Tammy G. says:

It’s fun to be in the snow when your young, but I’d rather stay warm. :purr:
Please enter me into the drawing. :catmeow:

  25. Shari C says:

Snow in August…hmmm, don’t think your chances are too good. Unfortunately, we are in the 90’s with lots of humidity also, but fortunately, I have to admit we do have air-conditioning and I am definitely using it…more like secluded in it since I refuse to go outside and melt unless I absolutely need to.

Last night we finally had a storm go through our area and received some rain, but I think it is too little too late for our brittle brown grass. Also many areas are now without electricity in all this heat and humidity…not good.

Yes, please enter me in your drawing. Wishin you a happy, safe and cool week-end.

  26. Alice Audrey says:

It’s been hotter than usual around here too. Count me in on the book, if possible.

  27. Kimmy says:

It’s been hot and humid here too. I can’t wait for fall. Here’s wishing you some snow :weather: Please enter me in the drawing.

  28. Toni Anderson says:

Wouldn’t it be nice if the world had a thermostat?

  29. Toni Anderson says:

    PS. My parcel arrived. :sheepjump:
    Thank you!!!!

  30. Marty says:

:weather: Even the pool felt like tepid bathwater, but I don’t live in a 100 year old house. I usually think I’d love that, but there you go!

  31. Ashley says:

I grew up without air. My parents didn’t invest in air for the house until I left for college. The house was built just after Sherman marched through Atlanta. It’s well insulated, but not much for the air flow department. So you have my sympathies. If you’ve got window fans, what used to help was to blow the hot air OUT of the house, not pull the air in. (Which is what I see most people do.) We’ve got 105-115 heat indices here, so here’s hoping it cools down all around.

  32. Karen B says:

:flying: Snow sounds great right now! Power just came on after 36 hours without. Terrible storm in MN Friday night – lots of trees down, uprooted and on top (crashed through) of houses. No damage here but the neighborhood is a mess.
Add me to the book list, please.

  33. Cheryl S. says:

I’m wishing snow for you too, Suzanne. I’d much rather have that myself than the heat and humidity. Please put me in for the book draw, too.
