Tastes Like Spring

Jan

Temperatures climbed close to 70 here yesterday. The breeze was warm and the sun felt hot when the clouds cleared. I love it when I have men here working in this kind of weather. They get sweaty and sometimes they take off their shirts.

In this kind of weather, the whole world feels frisky and full of hope. Everything is possible, even catching that last chicken.

Existing gardens stretch and whisper of work.

Gardens-to-come dream of being built.

New trees want to bud.

Goats lumber heavy with babies.

The farm tastes like spring, full and rich, yet under the bright, clearing sky, men still don’t take off their shirts. As if they are the only ones who did not get the memo.

I guess you can’t have everything!

Maybe the men need to be told it is okay to remove their shirts. If their mommas taught them right, they won’t. 😕

Lucky you, to be so close to spring! It is still winter here, with ice and snow, we’ve been having 0 degrees temp., 40’s today though.
Love the pics, especially the green grass by the creek, and the dog (Coco?) snuggling on the goat.
The new horse shelter is lookin’ good. (And the workers too!)
Looking forward to seeing your new garden!

Hahahaha! Thank you Suzanne, this was a great piece to read this morning… lovely photos and a little humor… what more could I ask?

Yes, you made me hopeful for spring , Suzanne. Here, 20 min. from Niagara Falls, it’s going to be 65 degrees today. But tomorrow we’re dipping back into winter temps. 26 deg. and holding there for at least the next week. But spring is just around the corner!

Great pictures! I laughed out loud on the Lovers Pine pic. Poor Sultan!

I am loving these warm temperatures :snoopy: – BUT I don’t like the buds that seem to be coming along with them. My flowering quince was budded all over two weeks ago, before the cold snap. So many bushes get ahead of themselves and then end up freezing their buds off before spring. That makes me sad. 😥

    So funny…goat pillow!
We have had a bit of much needed and welcomed snow for the last two days. Not tons but hopefully enough to fill the water reservoirs in the mountains and stave off the impending drought everyone has been talking about over winter.

We’ve been having warm weather in Dallas too. I think it hit 80 a couple of days ago. Luckily it is back in the 40’s today. I don’t want the trees and plants to get confused like the other reader said. I’m hoping for a bit more winter. I feel cheated!

I just read the Hobby Farms article about once a day milking that featured you! You need to post the link for everyone to read it.
