A New Day

It’s a beautiful day! I feel BETTER!!! Yes, while I have been bravely blogging on about wild bird suet and asparagus, I have been SUFFERING with the flu. I’ve spent the past several days flat in bed. Suffering. Did I mention the suffering? This is the first new picture I’ve taken in days because if I’d been taking pictures before they would have looked like….

This.

Which isn’t all that interesting. Aspirin, water, tissue box, and the clock by which I watched the minutes and hours of my suffering pass by. And it was a lot of suffering. I suffered valiantly, without complaint. Except for the part where I was complaining, and the part where I decided life was no longer worth living. And maybe the part where I just laid there and cried. I am NEVER sick. I don’t do sick well. So I am just thrilled to be back in the land of the living. And grateful that none of the people I begged over the weekend to shoot me like a downed horse took me up on it.

What a beautiful day! I want to go run down the road and twirl around and feel the sun on my face.

Mmmmm! LIFE!!!

I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. And suffering in silence is vastly overrated. Personally, I like to moan, groan and complain. However, since I live alone, there’s no one around most of the time to listen. I’m kinda like that tree in the woods, you know the one, if it falls and there’s no one to hear it, does it make a sound? That would be me.

There’s lots of flu in our area, and also a nice stomach virus floating around. I’ll be glad when the winter is over and people can get out and these ‘bugs’ will be gone.

Enjoy your day. Don’t overdo, you might relapse.

Feel better! The flu does make you appreciate being well, doesn’t it? You are stunning now! :flying:

  3. Kim A. says:

Aw, if you had told us you were suffering with the flu, Suzanne, we could have sent you healing energy/Light! Maybe you wouldn’t have suffered so long.

Sending Light and (((hugs))) now and I’m glad you are feeling better.

    -Kim

I would have NEVER known…you were so chipper and happy in your blog posts 😉

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Sun is a good thing.

  6. Suzanne McMinn says:

Of course now it’s snowing, so I’d better stay out of the road, LOL.

  7. shirley T says:

I’m glad you are feeling better. Take it easy for a few days. HUGS!!

  8. Cyndi Lewis says:

I must say… when i had the flu a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t post anything clever on my blog. I was completely thoughtless, with the exception that I was certain I would never feel well again. I too am one that doesn’t usually get sick with the flu. It took me down for a week and a half. By the time it ran through the entire family, two and half weeks passed. :wall: Next year we will be in line for flu shots.

  9. kacey says:

Glad you’re feeling better. I actually kind of liked the “flu” photo…

But, yes, you should stay out of the road. And when IS this winter going to end??? :wall:

  10. shai says:

Now you can never say you never get sick again. Glad you survived.

  11. Kim W says:

OH, yes, doesn’t it always sound so good to think of running down that sun-shiny road w/your arms spread out, the wind in your hair…and then…since you JUST got out of bed w/a cold…you have to stop because all that running just caused you to fall into a wild coughing fit!! :fan:

Glad you’re feeling better. Don’t over do it!

    Blessings from Ohio…

  12. Sooz says:

    :catmeow:
Shoot you? LOL I thought I was the only one that begged for that! But first, drive me down to the elephant graveyard!
I love your blog; I laugh so much reading it.

  13. Jen(aside) says:

We’re all sick too – dagnabbit. I’m ready for warm spring and laying in the grass. I don’t want to hack up my lungs anymore!

  14. lintys says:

So glad you’re feeling better. Sick s*cks!

  15. Lyndi Lamont says:

    Suzanne,

So glad to hear you’re feeling better. Flu is no fun at all!

    Lyndi

  16. Jodie says:

Three words… Annual Flu Shot. As we get older, our immune systems aren’t as good at fighting off bugs. Sorry you’ve been feeling miserable. I fight allergies all the time but so far no big colds or flu this year. :cattail:

  17. Tori Lennox says:

grateful that none of the people I begged over the weekend to shoot me like a downed horse took me up on it

People are funny that way. I could never get anybody to shoot me when I had it last year. Very annoying. *g*

Flu shots aren’t effective this year because the flu that’s going around is a different strain from what’s in the shots.

  18. Amy Addison says:

So glad you’re feeling better, Suzanne! The flu is the PITS! Get some sun and fresh air…from the safety of the porch, of course.

  19. MARY says:

 I’m glad you’re feeling better! We had 70 degrees yesterday, and 40 degrees today! No wonder everybody’s sick!~ Be well!! :sheepjump:

  20. Noble Pig says:

Wow, we had the exact same weekend..and yes the suffering! Why was this flu so painful! Glad you are better and me too!

  21. Kathleen says:

Sorry to hear that you sick… Sounds like you a feeling much better!! Hope you have a good day

  22. Brandy says:

Glad to hear you were feeling better! Hope you stay that way!

  23. Amy says:

No flu here, thank goodness. The shot this year doesn’t work. I had an appointment yesterday about a knee issue, got up and called the doctor’s office and canceled. When the receptionist asked why, I said “I am fine, my knee hurts, it can wait and I do not want to sit in a room full of people sick with the flu!” She laughed. :snoopy:

Glad you are better and I hope you didn’t share with 52!

  24. becki says:

Am I the last one to notice Suzanne’s moving date?

How come no one ever tells me anything?

Sorry about your flu. Our 10-year old managed to break her metatarsal-the big bone in your foot.

While waiting in the ER, (8 hours! And we have insurance. Maybe it was just because it was a Saturday) people who seemed to be death warmed over with flu kept trying to sit next to us, we kept moving.

    I’m not paranoid.

  25. Suzanne McMinn says:

I have to admit, I totally made up that moving date out of thin air! It’s in the “build it and they will come” theme. If I say that is the moving date, then it will be! I’m going to tell Steve-the-Builder that it is officially SCHEDULED! It’s in print! On the internet! It must be true! And if it’s not, then he will just have to finish building around me because I’m MOVING!! (Good luck escaping the flu at an ER! Ack!)

  26. Estella says:

    Glad you’re better!

  27. Susan says:

I can sympathize with you, Suzanne! I just got out of the hospital thanks to the side effects of the flu. I’m glad you’re feeling better. :shimmy:

  28. Morgan says:

WELL you know what you need to do?………………………….

YOU NEED TO CUT THIS FLU TO THE CURB!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m your cheerleader :woof: :woof: :woof: :woof: :bananadance:

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  29. Alice Audrey says:

Moving day? What moving day? Oh! In your Dates To Remember thingy. Whoah! That’s coming up fast.

  30. Alice Audrey says:

Oops! I meant to say hugs on the cold. Hope you’re all better soon.

  31. catslady says:

I never left my bed yesterday. This is the flu bug my husband gave me for valentines day. He’s had it a week and still coughing but going to work. I haven’t had the flu like this since before I had kids and my oldest is going to be 24 soon. My sympathies to everyone who has it.

Oh and I’m glad I checked yesterday’s blog for that asparagus recipe. Normally I just steam it and add olive oil but that does sound tastier.

  32. Linda in San Diego says:

Welcome back to the world of the more healthy! I was sick recently and the 3 days I decided I simply could not go to work and teach my class were miserable. I literally got up, wrote my plans for the sub and cried because I felt so awful! But better now, in fact I think I will ride my bike to school tomorrow.
I just recently found your blog and I love reading about your state, your family and your farm(s)! Thanks! :typing:

  33. Angi says:

I too had the flu last week and was off from work for 2 days! I hate being off work–nohting gets done the RIGHT way! I still today (exactly 1 wk later) do not feel back to my 100% I even got a flu shot and never again will I!?! :talktothehand:
