A goat who escaped the Stringtown Rising Farm barnyard in West Virginia led a farmer on a slow-speed chase Wednesday. The farmer attempted to stop Nutmeg, age 1, at the corner of the porch steps and the side lawn, according to a report released early Thursday morning. Nutmeg was serving a life sentence in the Stringtown Rising Farm facility after being purchased for breeding and milking purposes.

The farmer says Nutmeg escaped on hoof then led her on a slow-speed chase throughout the side lawn at speeds of up to two or three yards a minute.

  30. Darlene says:

This reminds me of the daily escapes of my goat, Serenia. I lived in a chain-link fenced yard. The WHOLE yard was fenced, including the only area to park the car. The gate was a double one that you had to open both sided of to get the car out of the yard. So every morning when I tried to go to work, she would escape. I learned to keep her morning bucket of feed for AFTER I got the car into the street and went back to close the gate. I’d just bang on the bucket and call her. Hey, with food involved she’d come running right to me. And then I RAN to get the gate closed! Had to reverse the procedure each evening when I got home. That was 20+ years ago and I had forgotten all about it until you posted your pictures. Thanks for reviving the memory!

We are masters of escape. Bwahahahahaha!
The love of my life, Luke, escapes daily to come visit me by my pen.
the publicist won’t let him in to rhumba with me just yet. Drat.

  33. Margaret (Nanny Goats) says:

Two or three yards a minute??? I shudder to think of the danger to innocent bystanders while the authorities chase a felonious farm animal at such high speeds!

    Also? I loved this post!
