In response to comments on this post, I went in search of Beulah’s behind yesterday.
I found it where she usually keeps it, on her backside, in the trees between the creek and the fenceline in our far pasture.
She looked about as happy as most women look when someone is photographing their bottom.
Okay, dear cow experts, what do you think? I think she does look lower and bigger on the right side.
Is that a calf? OR A TUMOR?!
Michelle says:
Oh, the indignity! :bugeyed: I can’t wait to see that little calf! How much longer does she have to go?

Suzanne, you are just plain rude to that poor burdoned female! I really do think that as an act of contrition you should post photos of front, side, and backside of you pregnant! And make sure BP gets to see the post…!!! LOLing on my way to bed!!! :moo:

Oh Suzanne, only on this wonderful site do I get the opportunity to gaze upon a bovine backside with my first cup of coffee of the day. You do make me laugh. BTW; She looks preggers to me – or has a tremendous gas bubble forming! Urp.

Sandy says:
LOL, my opinion is pregnant – mostly cause the vet said, and not close to the due date yet. You are so funny. Poor cow should be happy that she has so many “experts” keeping an eye on her. Do you have any idea what the daddy looked like?

I’m no cow expert. And I can’t help you.
Because everytime I get around cows they are usually looking at my backside because they are chasing me. Sad but true!
I do hope she has a little one in there though!!!

Makes me uncomfortable just to look at her. Yesterday, we celebrated a daughter’s 50 birthday so those birthing memories were stirred and near to the surface as I look at poor BP. She does seem to be a sweet cow. I hope all goes well with her and her baby.

She sure looks preggers to me with the “calf bump” on the right side. Udder doesn’t look larger. Congratulations on the upcoming birth.

Awww, I hope Beulah is getting a baby calf…looks like it to me, but I’m no vet 🙂 Wonder why milk cows bones are so prominent? There’s your question of the day!

Mary Ellen says:
With Beulah Petunia for it’s Mommy and a Brown Swiss for a Daddy, the calf should be beautiful. Hope it’s a heifer, in a couple of years you’ll have two milk cows.

Joyous says:
My question is is she carrying a bull or heifer………being as she is showing more on the right?? LOL You know how with us if we carry it high it is one sex and low another. She is a keeper anyway you go. Can I come live with you and play with the animals?

I’m no cow expert but she sure looks preggers! :moo: Wouldn’t hurt to have the vet look at her again just to make sure. However…. I do recall my female cat LOOKED like a bowling ball when she was pregnant. :bugeyed:

why do cows always look so bony?
On August 2, 2010 at 8:22 pm
Suzanne McMinn says:
sasha, milk cows, Jerseys especially, have that bony look to their hips! I’m not sure why, but it may be to help support/carry their large udders.

scorwin says:
She does not look happy with you taking pictures!! Poor girl. I’m glad someone asked about cows looking boney because I wanted to know that too.
Oh, the torture to be pregnant in the hot humid summer!!
