The other day when I posted about moving Beulah Petunia and Glory Bee up near the house, someone asked about the chairs in front of the chicken yard. Anyone who lives in the country knows that sitting in front of the chicken yard in the evening is better than anything you can find on television. The chickens are so much fun to watch as they peck and talk and finally line up to go inside for the night.
We also have ducks to watch.

And beyond them in the goat yard, Jack and Poky.
Of course, Clover isn’t far away, either.

She’s always got her eye on me.

And now there is my COW.

I love to sit and watch my cow.

And then what’s even better….

….is when that baby comes right on out! Baby can go anywhere she wants to go, though she stays near mama. But sometimes, oh sometimes, she comes to visit if you’re watching Farm TV.
And Farm TV is the best TV ever!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

P.S. Is it too late to sign up for your party? I would REALLY LOVE TO COME, but I’m not quite sure I will be able to. (I totally uderstand if it is too late, especially since I don’t know for sure if I can make it.)

Heard on the news today that Salem, OR finally passed an ordinance that allows up to 3 backyard hens per home inside the city limits. Of course, they also insist that backyard chicken owners buy a license for $50. Probably cancels out any monetary advantage to producing eggs in the city, but perhaps a few of our uptight urban dwellers will finally get a chance to decompress and understand Ma Nature’s wonderful design. Worth every cent!
