   Oh I can relate. Yes I can.
   I have lots of critters around here! My husband showed me this house on a whim and 3 months later I lived here and within another 3 months had it installed with a large variety of farm animals. Ta da!

   Oh Man, I used to see LOTS of sheep in the road, and I never once thought they were cute. Must have been because its NOT fun when one has to shear 3500 of the buggers every spring!

    I would say the same thing. You are very blessed to live here. Animals are wonderful. I wish I had more of them. You are doing the right thing living your dream. How cute is that sheep, very cute!!! They depend on you and you are a good provider. It’s going to be a beautiful spring!

    I have a pygmy cross goat named Bubba. No matter what we do, how we do it, he escapes. But it’s only in the warmer weather. Today, Bubba jumped the fence for the first time since last fall in search of food – finally spring has arrived

    @bubbashome – it’s because you KNOW you don’t feed him. Why I bet he’s just skin and bone! lol Just gotta love the escape artistes among the animals. Does he teach the others how to do it?

    My SIL has a dog that has learned how to open his KENNEL. You know, the little boxes you carry the dogs in the the car? Yeah, the ones that it’s supposed to take opposible thumbs to open. Yep, he opens it! They bring him in at night so he doesn’t get eaten (very small dog) and they’ve been putting a cover over it. DD is hearing rattle, rattle, clink, clink and then he’s out. And yes the door IS securely closed – they made sure of that after the FIRST time he escaped. He has yet to teach his step-brother how to do it, but I can’t see Baxter not watching and learning how to do it. lol

    How funny! The other day, I was sitting at my desk at home a saw a flash of black and white go past my window, then a red flash and then a black one. Ran outside and all three horses were running down the road. Thankfully a feedbucket shaken very hard, was all it took to get them back. Don’t know if a car coming across 3 galloping horses would make someone high tail it back to the city or not. LOL

    Boy, did that bring back memories. Our sheep spent more time at the neighbors’ than at home. I once saw one of them jump out the barn window 5 feet up. Blasted beasts.

    it scares me to see farm animals in the road. last time I was visiting my friend in the country we were driving down the road and there was a heifer standing right in the middle. I made her stop at the next farm so I could inform them. you never know where the animal belongs, but if you stop at a close-by farm, chances are they will be able to find out where it belongs if it isn’t theirs. I love your sheep-in-the-road photo Suzanne. it’s beautiful, just like the whole scene. yeah, I’d want to live there too.

    One day last spring, I was driving to work on a very busy two-lane road when, lo and behold, there was a large Holstein cow standing broadside right in the middle. I stopped the car and chased her off the pavement, then knocked on the door of the house and told the farmer his cow had been out in the road. He gave me a fairly uninterested look, said, “OK” and closed the door. Strange!

    I agree with the first line…”sheep are annoying.” This one is cute, for sure! We have sheep in the ‘road’ everywhere. Goats are everywhere, too, but they seem to have more common sense. (Did I just say goats have common sense?) Sheep just stand in the road, look up when a vehicle approaches and say, “Huh? Should I move? Can you go around me? Panic!!!!”

    Hee! LavenderBlue, yes there are plenty of chickens in Iceland (and some of them live in the US now too). But alas, no good road sign. Although in looking at some of the signs they have in Iceland, several seem suitable for Suzanne: like the one with the car driving right into the water or the one you post at the start of the road that shows only Jeeps will survive!
