Final council circle at 4-H camp!
They all held candles at the end and sang songs. They said how-how a lot the rest of the time. I’m not sure what that was about…… Camp is weird.
Okay, for a PAX mug, what two things did I really do while they were at camp?
1. Really did pick daisies. No, I left the wildflowers where they were.
2. Tried out a new recipe. Yes! I did this! I’ll do a post about it next week cuz it was really good!
3. Hiked to the top of a mountain. YES! I really did!! (See the pics below!)
4. Fell in a creek. No. Ewww. That would have been icky!
5. Slept late. Nope, too busy hiking up mountains!!
Seneca Rocks, West Virginia! Are these rocks cool or what? Rising nearly 900 feet above the North Fork River in the Monongahela National Forest in Eastern West Virginia, they’re formed of white/gray Tuscarora quartzite approximately 250 feet thick on exposed crags that were the edges of an ancient ocean. You can hike to the top–takes over an hour–and when you get there, there’s a sign that says STOP, don’t go any further unless you want to DIE you FOOL! So I went a little further just to be ornery.
So I was sitting here at the top, looking over, when I took this picture. It made me dizzy! But, wow, it was cool. I made a list of people I wished were there so I could accidentally push them off. JUST KIDDING!!! Shockingly, it was so much easier to hike down than up……
Legend has it that an Indian princess named Snow Bird tested seven suitors for her hand by making them follow her to the top of the rocks. The one that made it became her husband, but only after he almost fell off the top and she had to rescue him. I like this girl power story!
Now for the winner of the PAX mug, selected randomly from entrants who made the correct two choices…….
