Lots of sobbing yesterday. Actually, she started the night before. Around 7 pm my daughter had an emotional breakdown over leaving her grandmommy. (She stayed at my parents’ house while I was off with the girls.) My daughter is the one and only granddaughter in a family of boys, so she and my mother have a very close bond. And my mother is THE best grandmother in the world. She bakes and reads stories and makes them feel as if they are Important. She is never too busy for them, and she always has Blue Bell ice cream cones in the freezer. One of the toughest things about moving cross country was taking my children so far away from their grandmommy. Luckily either they’ve come here or we’ve gone there, so my daughter has gotten to see my mom every three months, and we’re going back this summer. But that was no comfort to my daughter yesterday. She woke up crying again, cried all the way out of the house, cried on the way to the airport, cried into the airport and onto the plane. It was a fun trip. 😥
Now, home again! Back to work….. Where is the margarita machine???
kacey says:
Ah, poor baby! Your mom sounds like a cool grandma!
So it’s re-entry day, huh? Back to the real world. The one with no margarita machine. That’s always hard. Good luck with it! 😯

Hmm, wondering if you can get a tax deduction for a margarita machine for the office. 😈

She is so lucky to hae a grandmommy like your mom. Maybe she should write a book – I want to be that kind of grandmamma.

Your poor daughter! My son is going through a similar thing after we spent a week with my mother at Disneyworld. It’s warms my heart that my children know and love their grandparents, but at the same time it breaks my heart to see them so upset at living so far away from them.
