Corn Husk Wreath with Pine Cones

I finished this corn husk wreath with pine cones yesterday as a Christmas gift. (See how to make a corn husk wreath here.) This one is a bit different–it’s slightly smaller and the center is filled with pine cones. I attached the pine cones along the inner circle of the wreath then simply packed the remaining pine cones into the center. They don’t need to be attached–the packing holds them in place. I think it kinda looks like a big sunflower! The frame is a wire hanger. This entire wreath was made for FREE.

Beautiful! I agree it looks like a big sunflower…what a great idea! Next year I’ll have corn and I’m going to save ALL of my corn stalks so I can make all the things you’ve shown us Suzanne. You get my creative juices flowing! :hungry2: (pitchfork!)

I.Love.This. I don’t need a whole lot of color for something to catch my eye and the textures of this wreath are wonderful. I need to check out your detailed instructions because I have a pine tree right outside my door that is my supplier for cones, and I saved a bunch of corn husks during the fall. I am suddenly inspired! :sun:

    Suzanne….
See what I mean ….how in the world could someone exist in the country or anywhere without pinecones….they’re just so useful for everything…
The simplicity of the design…makes it very elegant! Less it more don’t you think…no need to add a ribbon, a little artifical birdie, or another dry pod…THIS IS IT! If I were the judge at the flower design show…..you would win FIRST PLACE AND THE BLUE RIBBON….LOVE IT…

I’m making some pinecone wreaths right now – so now I feel I have to get some cornhusks and try this too. What a great idea.

  11. Heather says:

What a cool wreath! Can cornhusks be dyed? Maybe with vegetable dyes?

:happyflower: I love this wreath.. I’m not the most talented/crafty person though – I’ve made my version of this wreath but can you explain better how you attached the pinecones? Thanks!!!
