I Just Need Some Little Hoes

The chickens want to work in the garden! They’re always in there! Whew. Just when I was starting to worry about getting stuff done!

They don’t need little hoes; they’ll scratch with their feet pretty effectively!

Whew. For a second I thought you meant ho’s. Well, you do have some barn porn on occasion….. :happybutterfly: :sheep:

They have little “hoes” at the end of their feet…and they are the most effective composters I’ve ever seen!

I thought I had some broody hens forming because they acted like they were going to bite me and karate chop my hand off whenever I took their eggs. I couldn’t keep them off the nest, SO, I got a bunch of fertile eggs and put them in the nest thinking I would start building a future crop of egg layers. They (3 candidates) took turns sitting on the nest for about– 1/2 hour– each, then took off and totally forgot about motherhood! BRATS! Bummer!! Hope they don’t ask for a “raise” as their performance reviews in the “motherhood” department are found wanting.

I am about to build me a chicken coop. Love the chickens and love fresh eggs more, just dont know if my neighbors will 😆

  7. Nancy says:

They make great little tillers…the trick is teaching them to STOP after the seeds are put in!!

  8. Liz in Wis says:

That’s a scary scarecrow, you got back there 🙂

My little hoes have wiped out the snow peas that were about 2 inches tall. Its astonishing how much damage a single hen and rooster can do…and they have 5 acres to roam! Why must they hang out in my raised beds next to the house?!
