Events including workshop retreats, company picnics, family reunions, farm tours, birthday parties, weddings, and other private or corporate retreats and parties take place at Sassafras Farm– home of Chickens in the Road–located in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of Roane County, West Virginia, approximately 30 minutes north of Charleston, WV. Groups from a handful to a hundred can be accommodated for events. Sassafras Farm is a 100-acre working family farm with beef and dairy cows, dairy goats, chickens, and ducks. Retreat topics range from milking and cheesemaking, from the barn–hands-on with dairy cows and goats–to the kitchen and cheese cave, as well as candlemaking, baking, preserving, and various other old-fashioned and authentic arts and crafts. Facilities at the farm include the Studio at Sassafras Farm.
The Studio at Sassafras Farm
The Studio at Sassafras Farm includes a health department-approved kitchen as well as indoor dining and workshop space. Outdoor covered dining and workshop space is available on the spacious decks and grounds overlooking the scenic pastures and woods. Enjoy parties, dining, conferences, or workshops amidst the sights and sounds of a real working farm, complete with an assortment of friendly farm animals and a big red barn.
