  1. JenW!~ says:

I’m always telling my hubby to remove the dryer lint after drying clothes. But I’ve never left him a note. I’ll have to try that and see if it works. Morgan is adorable.

  2. Patty says:

Hah. I always clean it out before putting clothes INTO the dryer. I sure wish one of my girls cared enough to get angry over stuff NOT being done around here. LOL πŸ˜†
Morgan you can come do my laundry!

  3. CATRAY44 says:

I am on Morgan’s side… friends of ours nearly lost everything in a house fire started by dryer lint and gas dryer.

  4. CindyP says:

Ok, so she was serious with the note! A big step…. Do you have your pad of sticky notes filled out and ready to be stuck??? πŸ˜†

  5. Johanna says:

I’m with Patty, clean it before you put the clothes in. But then again, I’m with Catray — my parents’ next door neighbors had a fire that did extensive damage, and their dog died. It was traced to the dryer.

Maybe the best choice is the clothesline!

  6. Julie Curtis says:

Suzanne!!!! You’re gonna burn your house down! That’s the #1 cause of house fires. Be careful!

  7. Diane says:

I am with Morgan clean the dryer lint out. lol. So cute she cares enough to remind you. lol.. Wish my kid would think as much about chores as she does. The sticky notes are cute. I like the stars.

  8. Tracey In Paradise,Pa. says:

:shimmy: uh oh your in trouble!!

  9. Linda says:

You could always say that Lent began in February and ended in April…
Or just say ‘Oh, thanks for doing that for me.’ πŸ˜‰

I’m doing laundry right now though, so thanks for the reminder!

  10. Laurel says:

Our dryer (LG, and I love it; it sings a song when it’s done, but I digress) reminds you every time you start it to check the filter. Of course, being reminded that often sort of inures you to it after awhile. You can’t win!

  11. Peggy says:

Suzanne it looks like many loads of clothing went through the dryer withour the lint being removed. I know it is easier to remove a lot of lint, but remember that the little pieces of lint can cause a fire!!!!!!!…..I want you to have a home, so keep after her Morgan.

  12. Angela says:

    Hey Suzanne!

You could blame it on 52! πŸ˜‰

I clean mine out after I get the clothes out because I think it is easier to get it all out when the dryer is warm. :shimmy:

Since others are sharing their fire stories I will share mine. Over 20 years ago a friend of my sister’s was killed in a house fire that was caused from the dryer. His parents weren’t home and he was asleep and died. It was just awful.

    Angela

  13. blueberrylu says:

Well Suzanne, from the looks Morgan is giving you in the picture I would be less scared of a fire, and much more frightened of the daggers shooting out of her eyes at you. :bugeyed:

  14. Barb in GA says:

Susan, you’re busted. BUSTED, I tell you!

If you had cleaned that lint filter out after EVERY load of clothes, the lint would be the same color. Clearly, you dried a load of whites, then a load of darks.

    Go, Morgan!

  15. mary kellogg says:

Well, I would say I’m on Morgan’s side on this one. You don’t want your house burning down now do you?

Also, you SHOULD BE SAVING ALL THAT FREAKING LINT! It is an excellent fire-starter when combined with all your leftover candle wax. Make nice little squares and see how easy it is to start your woodstove up!

Funny how kids know everything when they are Morgan’s age!

  16. lward says:

I hate when my kids turn the tables on me, too. Ooops.

  17. MMT says:

I too have to agree with Morgan. I had to put a sticky note on my dryer to remind my son and his friend that was staying with us at the time to “clean the lint trap every load” I clean it when I take a load out so it is ready for the next load to go in.

  18. Lola-Dawn says:

Potential house fire there, Suzanne! That is NOT lint from one load of laundry … I’m with Morgan on this one!

  19. Jennifer says:

Why Are you using a DRYER anyway!!! I thought country people hung there cloths out to dry!!! Be a little green! There is nothing better than bedding hung out to dry. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN MY CHICKENS IN THE ROAD FAMILY!

  20. bonita says:

Congratulations, Morgan, you have an official pet peeve! At my house, the laundry doers are divided: half believe in cleaning the lint trap just after the clothes come out; half believe in cleaning it just before the clothes go in. Makes for interesting ‘discussions.’

  21. MousE says:

Invest in stickie notes. I see a boom coming.

  23. MousE says:

Ack! I do not know how that happened, sorry for the double comment….

  24. Cousin Sheryl says:

There is another culprit lurking here that may actually be the problem-causer. Have you questioned ALL the suspects??? How about – – – Weston (teenage boys never remember to do anything! – Except for my Madison – because he is a laundry-obsessed as I am – Hmmm, wonder how that happened? LOL

    :dancingmonster:

  25. Jessica says:

I am cracking up at that pic. Her look is priceless! LOL

I clean the lint tray sometimes before and sometimes after. There’s no rhyme or reason for it. But I always do clean it out for each load. I don’t ever want a fire to start! I also clean inside where the tray is and the tube thingy that vents the hot air to outside. I also never have it running while we are out of the house (or the washer or dishwasher in case of a flood, because I know it happens. And just *MY* luck it will!)

  26. Ulrike says:

When our lint trap was on top, I cleaned it out before turning it on. Now, it’s on the front (inside the door), and I clean it out before removing the clean, dry clothes, so they don’t get lint on them.

  27. Wendy says:

Tell her she needs a hobby…
and you’re leaving that lint there to enable her new hobby.
    Making paper from dryer lint!
(You really can, you know! It’s fun! And now that school’s out, she’ll soon be moping around complaining that she’s “bored ’cause there’s nothin’ to do!”)
You’ve just been savin’ up for something for her to do! Yeah, that’s it!

  28. cranberry says:

I am SO guilty of not cleaning the dryer lint thingy after every load… And hubby always has to tell me when he finds it full – ugh.

  29. cabynfevr says:

Actually, I’ve had that much lint in my drier after just one large load of towels. If you hang them out a few times and then use the dryer the lint is unbelievable!

  30. Jennifer says:

I have a new dryer with the same looking lint trap as you—it’s on top and a bit of a pain to get it out!! Not too convenient. I try to clean it out before each day of using. Good luck!!

  31. Valeria says:

The stern, one-eyed lass is right! There is a REASON lint is used in fire starters. You’ve raised a wise and pretty (when she’s not angry) young woman. Follow her advice! :sheepjump:

  32. Kari says:

I personally clean the trap right before I hit the start button and that is the way my Mom does it too. πŸ™‚

But wow! Morgan is so intensely angry! πŸ™‚
