Still Waddling

I’m checking on Cookie Doe closely these days. She should deliver any time now. She’s known for having three or four babies, though, so she might not be done cooking.

She’s liable to get even bigger! Not that she’s not big enough already!

“Hey!”

That doesn’t look like an udder within days of kidding, or maybe even within weeks….

I know! I think she’s going to get a lot bigger! All I know is that based on when she was put with the buck, she could deliver any time now. But her udder doesn’t look ready at all so it could be a lot longer–and bigger! She was with the buck for several months and the earliest her delivery could be was October.

Nutmeg still seems bigger to me. I mean when she was preggo.

Don’t tell her I said that!

She looks a ways off to me as well. Start checking the tail ligaments on either side of the tail. When you can wrap your fingers nearly all the way around the tail near where it attaches, then you’ll know within a day or so when she’s due.

I’m wondering the same thing about two of our sheep…by the calendar they could deliver any day but no obvious changes in their udders. Their bellies are HUGE. I am looking forward to seeing that little goat mama’s belly right before she has FOUR babies!

  6. dgkritch says:

I agree, I think she’s still some time.
No way she can feed babies until there’s some milk!!

    Sleep easy for awhile.

Looks like she is saying…does my belly make my butt look big?
