No, it needed a “Weston” 😉

  2. bbkrehmeyer says:

gas(w/some oil mixed in) or if that doesn’t work, try pluggin it in… (jk)…

  3. dmcfarland says:

Funny! But please get some safety glasses for mowing and especially weedwhacking! Anything can become a missile and losing vision is not worth it. And no one thinks it will happen to them. We never added oil to the gas in our mower so would like to hear more about that method. And ours had a spark plug. I now live in an area where grass is not desirable….so happy it’s gone.

  4. Sue, a Florida Farm Girl says:

I don’t ever remember using anything but plain gasoline in a lawn mower. Gas/oil mixture in chain saw, gasoline powered weedwhackers, gasoline blowers — yes.

Isn’t it nice to have some Weston power for it, too?

  5. bbkrehmeyer says:

the gas/oil mix is for a gas powered weed eater.not a mower….or some are electric and some are battery powered. gas ones are not allowed in some areas.but I’m sure they are ok in w.Va.

First, I want to tell you how beautiful everything looks!

Our riding mower is going to the shop today…..what else is new. Actually it has behaved well the last two years. We may have to have the yard mowed if they keep it too long…that really goes against the grain.

  7. brookdale says:

    Yay Weston! Lookin’ good!
Suzanne, just a word of “advice” for you on using the mower and weedwacker…be sure to wear closed-toe shoes, not flipflops or sandals, when you mow. Don’t want to cut off one of those tootsies.
I love your yard. It looks so good with the picket fencing all around, and the beautiful flowers. Do you have an herb garden too?

  8. Teresa says:

I thought for sure you were going to say it needed a Weston to push it. 😀 Everything does look beautiful. I can’t wait to see the new place in person. :snoopy:

  9. Cheryl LeMay says:

Sometimes the simplest things are the most often overlooked.I would not mix oil in with your gas for your lawn mower. There is a separate oil well for that. You will have to change your oil as part of your spring or fall tune-up.There is a spark plug in the front too. Sometimes the connecting wire slips off especially if you’re mowing tall stuff and then it won’t start.Just slip it back on. Is your string trimmer electic or gas? Gas ones are heavy. I agree with everyone on wearing closed shoes. I would like to add that you should also wear long pants. You will end up with green grass covered legs if you don’t.Your place is beautiful.

    Too funny!

I used to enjoy mowing when we lived in a house that had an actual lawn. I don’t mind weed whacking either, with an electric one. We have a gas powered version and it is the most annoying machine ever! Hubby spends more time trying to make it work than actually being able to chop the weeds/grass down. It’s too awkward and heavy for me to use.

  11. JeannieB says:

Amazing that it works better with gas and Weston!

  12. bonita says:

A word about storage.: You can store the gas/oil mixture for the weedeater in any of the three gas containers you found in the barn. BUT, unless you are certain which was the gas-only container, get a new (gas only) container for the lawn mower gas. My ‘gardener’ takes the spark plugs out over the winter & is very judicious about keeping the plugs clean.

  13. Squeegees Mom says:

According to my shade tree mechanic hubster, most lawn mowers made after 1994 (give or take a year or two, he was going off the top of his head) do not need gas and oil mixed, they have an oil reservoir like cars, and require oil changes like cars. Lawn mowers made previous to this date (see caveat above) are 2 stroke engines and require a mixture of oil and gas to run properly. We have a 1979 Lawn Boy that runs great thanks to my hubster and the proper oil and gas mixture. We use the same oil and gas mixture in the gas weed whacker and his vintage Trials motorcycle. Keep a gas can plainly marked for the oil and gas mixture in the garage. He also suggests that the lawn mower will not “gum up” as much if you shut off the gas just prior to finishing the mowing and let the carburetor run dry of gas. Must work considering the age of our machine and its state of health.

  14. MMT says:

Your place is beautiful. Since my husband works full time and I don’t, I do the mowing and weedeating. I actually enjoy mowing the yard and love how it looks when I get done. A few years ago I started having trouble with my shoulders and could no longer handle the weedeater. Enter the weedeater on wheels (aka the greatest lawn care invention ever). This thing has made weedeating doable again, since I just push it like a push mower instead of having to hold it. You also add the gas and oil seperately for it just like a lawn mower. With some heavy duty string line I can really wipe out some unsightly weeds and overgrowth messes.
