Dogs looking on as the first trailer of hay for the year is unloaded at the farm. I don’t even want to think about winter yet, but we have to!

I have to say I am one of the strange that likes Winter, for farm folks probably not a good time, but it is good to be prepared early, my Grandfather always started in the Summer getting ready for Winter as well. This past Spring brought us a lot of rain, now nothing, and when we do get rain it is in the form of bad storms, what ever happened to those days when we would get a nice soft rain all day, the kind where it was safe for the kids to go out and play in the rain if they so desired? Everything is changing. We are supposed to have storms today. Days like today make me look forward to Fall.

You have more cows and goats this year, how much more hay will you need compared to last year? I imagine quite a bit!

Yes, more, we’re planning 100 round bales, plus square bales.
