Free Book Friday: Got PAX?

Aug
24

This is the adorable Jenny Bulloughs (is she cute or what?), eHarlequin Digital Content and Interactivity manager, at the literacy signing in Dallas last month where she was the first to tell me that the PAX League trilogy (The Beast Within, Third Sight, and Deep Blue) are being re-released in electronic format. The books will be available as a series bundle or individually.

Currently, Harlequin/Silhouette releases all new books simultaneously in both print and ebook, and to go back and re-release all backlist books would be a task of astronomical proportions. Past books are being re-released as ebooks selectively based on customer feedback/demand only–and the PAX series was chosen on that basis! Yay!

Jenny just sent me the new cover for the PAX miniseries bundle (left). Cool, huh? I love it! The bundles, and individual PAX ebooks, will be available in November. (You can still get the regular print books at online bookstores, by the way.)

Winner by random comment number draw of an autographed advance copy of A Hero’s Redemption (my October book!) is comment #7, Stefanie! (Email me!) Up for grabs this weekend, August Silhouette Romantic Suspense release High-Stakes Honeymoon by RaeAnne Thayne! Let me know what you think of the PAX trilogy cover–and tell me what you think about ebooks? Do you buy/read ebooks? Why, or why not?

And if you haven’t yet, be sure to check out all the new updates on my website and vote in my new poll in the sidebar!

Hey Suz, love the PAX Trilogy cover. Now if we only had more PAX books  I have all three of the books but it is so nice they are re-issuing them this way. I read e-books occassionaly. I don’t usually take the time required to read them, but it is a great way to get books you otherwise might not read. I have already voted and checked out the website. Great :flying: I am off on another adventure for the week-end. Have a fantastic week-end everyone and hugs.

    Love the cover!

I hate reading ebooks! I never buy them, but I have won a couple in one contest or another and I have read them, but it’s just not the same to read books from a computer screen. Besides, after I have stared at the computer screen for a while my poor eyes start screaming for help. :drowning: It’s either the old fashioned book or an audio book for me.

I love the e-book cover, Suzanne.

I seldom read anything of length on-line, as I find it too hard on the eyes. And I much prefer my books in the “old-fashioned” format–with pages to turn. Most of my fiction reading is done at night, in bed, and cozying up with my laptop is not the same. Nor is a PDF print-out.

Besides, there is just something about the smell and feel of a real book. Nothing beats it!

Have a great weekend, everyone. I am, mercifully, without company this weekend. I hope! 🙂

I like the cover. It’s very strong.

I’ve only read three ebooks so far, all for a contest. I’ve run into so many computer glitches that I generally prefer to simply buy a print copy, but could easily see buying ebooks more as time goes by.

  5. Stefanie D says:

    Hi Suzanne,

I really like the cover!
I don’t read ebooks. I prefer having my books on my bookshelve and being able to touch them, smell them, … Yeah, I know, it’s a bit crazy. But I really like the smell of books. :woof:

  6. pearl says:

Cover is striking and dramatic. Great! I do not read e-books. I enjoy a real book with pages, the feel and touch of the genuine paper and it is soothing and enjoyable.

  7. Susan says:

A big  for the cover!

I don’t read ebooks either. I like having the feel of a book in my hands. And the computer screen does bother my eyes after awhile.

  8. leanne says:

The PAX ebook cover looks great!!! I’ve never read an ebook before,I prefer curling up on the couch with a book in my hands. But I would probably buy an ebook if it were the only way to get a copy of something I really wanted. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Leanne :purr: :friday: :typing:

  9. Tori Lennox says:

I love the trilogy cover! I don’t as a usual rule read ebooks. The only thing I have to read them on is my laptop and I spend way too much time on it as it is. 🙂

  10. catslady says:

I was beginning to think I was one of a very small group that didn’t read ebooks but I see there are a lot here that don’t either. I’ve read one that I won. I too want the feel and touch of a book, I like them around me and have shelves full of them, I hate sitting and reading at the computer and I’m still on dial up and don’t have one of those readers.

    Love the cover :purr:

  11. Lis says:

    Ooh great cover

I agree with pretty well everyone above. I don’t read a lot of ebooks, if I win them then I read them but I spend enough time on the comp writing and video editing I need the time away with a real paperback. Besides, its easier to curl up in bed with a book then it is the laptop lol

  12. Brandy says:

I don’t read very many ebooks. Maybe 6 or 7 a year. I find that I miss being able to turn the pages or take the book with me, since I carry one in my purse where ever I go. As for the cover? It’s very simple and dramatic and that makes it one of the best ebook covers I’ve ever seen because of it!

  13. Estella says:

I like the Pax cover. I read ebooks occasionally, but there’s nothing like holding a print book in your hands.

  14. Teresa W. says:

Love the PAX cover and the series. I have to admit that I would rather read a book in print form than e-book!

  15. RobynL says:

very neat cover; I’d also rather read a book than an e-book.

  16. Marty says:

Love the PAX cover–kind of has an X-men feel to it, and who doesn’t like that? I read a few e-books, there are a lot of talented e-authors, yet have to admit I still love holding an actual book.

  17. Karen B says:

:flying: Love the cover and hate ebooks. Too hard on these old eyes and I spend too much time on the computer as it is. Give me a real book that I can hold.

  18. TeresaH says:

Love the cover Suzanne! I do read ebooks, and I do like them, but not near as much as I like a print book. There’s nothing like the smell and feel of a new book.

  19. Ericka Scott says:

Being as I am almost exclusively published in e-book format, I do buy and read lots of e-books. They don’t replace real print books, I buy and read a lot of those too!

What’s nice, is I can put e-books on a CD. Lots of them fit on one CD versus what I can fit on my already groaning bookshelves.
