The internet went out yesterday afternoon after rain turned to snow that lasted all day. Today, I hiked out to the dish and scraped my way back to civilization with a stick. The satellite dish was covered in snow, but the real problem was underneath the snow where I found a thick layer of ice. Took me forever to scrape it off with a stick, but I’m back!
At least for now. It’s that time of year. With this snow on top of ice, trees could start falling then the power will go out. Hopefully not–but, it’s possible. I’ll post as I can. I have some cute new pictures and video coming of the babies!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

By the way, do you have a post on how you made the decision to have cows and goats and whether you felt you could handle the country life?

I had to do the same thing yesterday! I was loosing all of my technology! No internet no satellite. What’s a girl to do! It’s an icy mess where I live. Here’s a few pictures if you’d like to see. http://wvtreasures.blogspot.com/2011/01/icy-roads.html And there’s a little more snow coming tonight! Gotta love living in West Virginia! I do!
